Overview We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Accounting & Finance Team reporting to the Director of Finance & Accounting. This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the AP function, with a primary focus on inventory accounting, accounts payable, lease accounting, audit support, and the financial close process. This role also plays a key part in process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and strengthening internal controls to support the Company’s continued growth while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing, and values-driven workplace. This position is primarily based in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn office and follows a hybrid schedule, dependent on role and business needs. About the role Essential Functions: • Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules., • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting deliverables and support preparation of financial reports and analysis for management., • Manage business licenses, reporting and compliance., • Analyze inventory trends and variances and ensure inventory accounting complies with applicable accounting standards and company policies., • Oversee the Accounts Payable function to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing and payments., • Oversee Real Estate accounting and ensure compliance with applicable accounting guidance., • Support annual financial statement and state audits, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to audit requests, and assisting with internal controls and accounting policy documentation., • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, improve reporting efficiency, and reduce manual processes., • Assist in developing accounting policies and procedures and support system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives., • Assist in overseeing the daily workflow and performance of the accounting team, including Accounts Payable and lease accounting., • Review work prepared by team members, provide training and guidance, and assist in prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines., • Support employee development, cross-training, documentation, and process improvement initiatives. Additional Job Responsibilities: • Begin to implement AI technology to streamline Accounting processes and reporting., • Participate in cross-functional meetings to support business initiatives and financial reporting needs., • Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and reporting as needed., • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs. What we are looking for Skills & Requirements: • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail or inventory-based environments., • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred., • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and financial close processes., • Experience overseeing Accounts Payable and/or staff preferred., • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required., • Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Microsoft Great Plains or NetSuite., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively., • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions., • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
