Job DescriptionDescription: Position Overview The Academy Charter School Administrative Assistant understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The School's Administrative Assistant plays a central role in ensuring an orderly, responsive, and open school. In addition to maintaining the school’s administrative systems and routines, the Administrative Assistant functions as the primary contact person for all of the school’s constituents. In this role, the Administrative Assistant must be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, families, trustees, donors, and visitors. Responsibilities & Duties: Front Desk Support • Greet and document all visitors (signing in visitors, ensuring that students only leave with authorized parents/guardians, monitoring and controlling access to the school, etc.), • Manage phones (answering calls, re-directing calls, taking messages, placing calls, creating school announcements, etc.), • Manage mail (distributing received mail, preparing school mailings, making mail drops, etc.), • Oversee the day to day activities of the school and serving as the main point of contact in the school reception area, • Help to plan and manage logistics and preparations for school events and activities as needed (making photocopies, setting up for special events, making phone calls to confirm attendance, etc.), • Manage the collection and maintenance of student, personnel, and school information (receiving forms and paperwork, tracking missing forms, managing databases, updating contact information, keeping records current, etc.), • Coordinate a variety of programs and/or activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and delivering services in conformance to established guidelines., • Manage the collection of all funds for school trips and all student activities., • Manage the disbursement and the reconciliation of petty cash., • Responsible for the collection of funds for all staff meals., • Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, faxing, mailings, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or materials as needed., • Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among department and/or providing direction as may be required., • Assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Requirements: Work experience & Skills • Minimum of 2 or 3 year office experience, • Experience working in schools and/or urban communities preferred., • Strong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skills, • Demonstrated ability in utilizing office equipment and software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Explorer, Excel, and Outlook)., • Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators.

Summary: New York Edge is seeking a passionate, mission-driven team-builder to fill the After School Program Director role. In this full-time role, you will be accountable for the growth, quality, and success of the assigned after-school program operation, its students, and staff. The primary responsibility of the Program Director is to manage the day-to-day operations to ensure that New York Edge quality standards and guidelines are met and that the program meets all contract requirements. You will foster an atmosphere of fun and learning, utilizing a broad range of sports and arts-related activities where the concept of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship can flourish and serve as a role model to youth. Schedule: Monday-Friday (Days/shifts vary depending on site needs) This role requires you to be in person. Pay: $58,500 - $62,500 (salary offer will be commensurate with experience and education) Essential Job Functions: * Oversees program staff, program operations, services, and implements programs and/or processes to provide services within established timeframes and in compliance. * Conducts staff performance evaluations and development plans with the Program Manager and Human Resources Department. * Provides weekly and monthly team meetings that encourage opportunities for team feedback and discussions about classroom management, lesson planning, writing prompts, and social-emotional learning. * Communicates regularly with supervisor on program updates, progress, and needs. * Coordinates outreach to the community and presents on the program to actively recruit participants. * Prepares various documents and reports (e.g., attendance, daily activities, daily program content, program design, etc.) for internal and external reporting. * Provides weekly individual supervision to each staff member with feedback, goal setting, and assessment of competencies in the role. * Supports all team members, including in-direct reports, and provides feedback as needed. * Collaborates with the Program Manager, Borough Director, and New York Edge Curriculum and Training Departments to develop and implement monthly all-staff professional development workshops/seminars. * Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principals on program delivery to align with goals with student achievement and performance. * Monitors and ensures all program compliance, including but not limited to student registration, staff documents, ratios, attendance tracking, IDs, and building permits. * Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the center and its programs. Education Requirement: * Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work * At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field preferred Experience Requirement: * Minimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. * Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth & adolescents in New York City. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: * Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with staff, students, and entire school community. * Strong understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting. * Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, virtually and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand * Must be able to articulate outcome requirements and provide the necessary and appropriate resources and support for school and New York Edge staff members to successfully deliver on objectives. * Knowledge of after-school programs, supervising staff, and program planning. * Ability to de-escalate potentially risky or difficult situations. * Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word. Work Environment & Physical Demands: * Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but is required to interact with the community at-large during events, outreach, and trips. * May be required to walk up and down stairs, lift or move objects/materials as needed. * Work hours will be consistent Monday through Friday with potential for some weekend or evening scheduled activities or events. In this role, you will organize, lead, and promote interest in performing arts activities. Instructors utilize and adapt the New York State Arts Learning Standards to create an engaging and awarding activity that encourages participation in New York Edge programs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. * Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities such as visual art, fashion, painting, drawing, photography & digital media. * Organize performance groups and direct their rehearsals. * Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. * Ascertain and interpret group interests, evaluate equipment and facilities, and adapt activities to meet the student’s needs. * Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. * Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in the activities and demonstrate the use of materials and equipment. * Evaluate activities to determine if they are producing desired results. * Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests. * Progressive development of student skills leading to a final project REQUIRED SKILLS * Must be knowledgeable and skilled in various Visual Arts and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth. * Must be able to follow a curriculum * Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual! * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. * May be required to walk up and down stairs. * May have to lift or move objects/materials as needed. * Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but may be required to interact with the community at-large during trips or events. QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or Equivalent required; some college preferred * A minimum of one year of visual arts work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. * A minimum of one year of teaching/coaching experience is required. * Must have passion for New York Edge's mission and demonstrated interest in education and youth development. * Candidates qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity are also preferred. WORK SCHEDULE * 9-15 hours per week. * Monday through Friday -- 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm The Visual Arts Specialist will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents, and school administration.
