POSITION SUMMARY The Brook Supportive Housing Program has opportunities for Social Workers to join an established multidisciplinary team. The Brook permanently houses 189 residents; the majority are formerly street homeless and have serious mental and medical conditions (including HIV/AIDS) and substance misuse challenges. Social Workers are integral to our team and are responsible for helping chronically homeless individuals transition into permanent housing with supportive services. Our Social Workers provide direct clinical services to residents who have more intense psychiatric and behavioral health needs. They coordinate services that include medical care, psychiatric care, community living skills, financial management, information and referral, crisis management, supportive counseling and substance abuse treatment and referrals. The Brook provides a high level of support to its Social Workers through weekly individual supervision, rounds, on-site trainings, and staff meetings. The Brook supports continuing education and career growth through individual and group supervision, as well as opportunities for earning Continuing Education Credits. Job Description Background The Culinary Education Center (CEC) in New York is looking for an Executive Director. Along with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for creating and guiding the organization by helping to develop its mission, strategic goals, and all operational structures. The Executive Director will also be responsible for developing programming and for stewarding external relationships. The Culinary Education Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and labor-management partnership between high-wage food service employers and UNITE HERE Local 100, the union for food service and restaurant workers in the New York/New Jersey area. As a Taft-Hartley Fund, this training center was created to train and upskill food service workers, enabling them to enter good union jobs in the industry and advance in their careers. The program includes conducting evidence-based nutrition education courses and workshops, food demonstrations, grocery store tours, operating two youth-led farms stands, and implementing healthy bodega store interventions to increase access to healthy food in Bronx neighborhoods. The program also includes the implementation of the CATCH Kids Club program at five school-aged after school program sites.
