POSITION SUMMARY: Sampled is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician with either five or more years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or one to three years of experience with a Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will be proficient in modern genomics and proteomics workflows, including Illumina, PacBio, and Oxford Nanopore NGS data analysis, qPCR, 10x single-cell technologies, and Olink data analysis. Experience with both array-based and NGS-based high-throughput data processing and reporting is essential. Strong programming skills and experience developing automated analysis pipelines are required. The Bioinformatics team is responsible for the analysis, quality control, and reporting of clinical, clinical research and research-based data for our prestigious clients. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, verifying, and validating bioinformatics tools and pipelines, striving for rigorous data governance and software excellence. The position will be based at Sampled’s Headquarters in Piscataway, New Jersey, with hybrid working options available. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based pipelines for high throughput data analysis (NGS sequencing, array, PCR, Methylation, Olink, 10x single cell sequencing etc)., • Automate the pipeline from manual steps., • Perform robust data quality control and validation., • Analyze various types of sequencing data analysis (e.g. RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, methylseq, single cell, Olink, microarray, WGS, WES, panel) using contemporary genomics data analysis tools., • Work closely with clients and project managers to understand and help accomplish their research goals and provide consultation on best bioinformatics methodology options., • Integrate different types of genomics data and prepare concise presentations of computational results., • Be an active champion and role model of the Sampled Core Values: We strive to Delight our Clients, We pursue Excellence in every interaction, process and outcome, We Collaborate to create the best results for our clients and for each other, We are One Team, We Communicate proactively, transparently, and consistently., • Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 1 to 3 years of experience. Must have minimum of one year’s experience in Biotech or Pharma sector., • Experience in major programming language (e.g. Python, R) used in the field of Bioinformatics. Python is preferred., • Experience of using Linux command lines., • Experience of using on-premise clusters like Slurm, SGE, etc., • Experience of using cloud-based genomic services like Illumina BaseSpace, DNANexus, etc., • Experience in processing clinical data is a plus., • AWS cloud and Linux experience with code management tools (Git) in collaborative team environments including containers (docker) and workflow orchestration tool such as Nextflow and Snakemake, • Pipeline development is a plus., • Expertise in analysis of microarray-based genotyping and gene expression data., • Expertise in analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing data and knowledge of best practices for variant calling and annotations., • Expertise in assessment of genetic variation and deleterious effects., • Experience with relevant Sequencing Analysis tools, such as BWA, GATK, SAMTOOLS or related., • Experience in software testing and validation., • Experience with quality control management., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, internally and externally., • Good level of computer literacy, able to effectively use all Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint, and MS Teams., • Strong organizational skills, with attention to priorities, effectively meeting deadlines and responding in a timely manner.
