Job Description Title: Youth Intern Department: NJ Programs & Services Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation Cost Center 58056 Position Type: Entry Level General Purpose: Provide paid summer internships under the grant for DVRS Pre-Employment Transition Services. Program is geared for students currently enrolled in school ages 14 to 21 years of age. The Student Interns will gain work experience at an employer site for up to six weeks during summer 2021. The paid internship will be up to 20 hours per week and student will be paid bi-weekly. Each student intern must commit to participating in work readiness classes prior to internship starting and one day weekly work readiness upon start of internship. Essential Functions: • Participate in work readiness classes to determine a job match prior internship., • Participate in work readiness classes 1x per week once in internship, • Able to work for a business/community with minimal job support, • Able to travel to and from internship location in the community via public transportation or by own means of transportation(walking, bus, train etc), • Intern will participate in job sampling for the first 3 days., • Intern must be able work up to 5 hours per day (Monday – Friday), • Interns will be required to communicate any missed shift to their Skills Trainer Qualifications: • High School Student between the ages of 14 to 21., • Have an IEP, 504 plan or medical documentation, • Communication skills, • Ability to take care of daily living needs, • Ability to communicate with Skills Trainer and Job Site manager/supervisor, • Must be able to travel, • · Maintain confidentiality and security of customer records and documents., • Expected to work in the community, • Able to meet job requirements in community business, • Ability to commit to 5 days for up to 6 weeks

Responsibilities Role and Responsibilities: You will be responsible for securely transporting detainees between destinations and ensuring that the vehicles used for transportation activities are safe and properly maintained. Your tasks include: • Assisting management when unique or unexpected problems arise while transporting detainees (help develop effective and efficient solutions)., • Reviewing all vehicle inspection reports, developing summaries for Transportation management., • Ensuring that all permits and licenses for assigned vehicles are in order., • Ensuring vehicles have the necessary safety equipment before initiating a trip and notifying the Transportation management if there are problems., • Properly tracking DOT HOS on Electronic Logging Devices., • Participating in interviewing and screening of applicant Transport Officers., • Reviewing all necessary paperwork, ensuring that all reports are turned into the Transportation management according to described policies and procedures., • Ensuring that all missions meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS safety measures while transporting detainees. Possession of applicable state requisites for employment., • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age., • One (1) year of experience as a law enforcement officer, military police, or as a security officer engaged in functions related to detaining civil or administrative aliens. A degree in a related or appropriate field / discipline may substitute for experience (i.e., detention, corrections, criminal justice, etc.) required., • A valid “Class B” or “Class C” Chauffeurs Driver’s License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) endorsement within 90 days of appointment., • Eighty (80) hours of verified and certified driver’s training from an approved company trainer and as defined by the U.S. Department of Transportation., • Must possess a State Firearms License., • Must possess a State Security Guard License., • Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military., • Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military., • A current driver’s license with no preventable accidents, suspensions for driving convictions, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or more than two (2) moving violations on any type of vehicle for the past three (3) years., • Passing a company and Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol test., • Ability to work overtime frequently., • Ability to travel extended periods of time with frequent overnight stays., • Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours., • Must be able to regularly report to work without being late., • Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned., • Ability to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling twenty-four (24) hour period., • Must be mature, flexible, and able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress., • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs. (sometimes more)., • Reach above shoulder level., • Work with machinery.
