The Westchester County Department of Public Health has an immediate opening for a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to provide basic information and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. This is a part time paraprofessional position based primarily at the WIC Program, Yonkers site. Duties include, but are not limited to: • Attends breastfeeding training classes to become a peer counselor., • Receives a caseload of WIC mothers and makes routine periodic contacts with all mothers assigned., • Gives basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers, including telling them about the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding.
