Job DescriptionCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) Location: Hyannis, MA Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: Variable Shifts Travel Gross Weekly: $1,900–$2,100/week (Based on Experience) Local Pay: $48–$52/hour (Based on Experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week contract. The Surgical Technologist will assist surgeons and registered nurses during a variety of surgical procedures while maintaining a safe, sterile, and efficient operating-room environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating-room protocols. Orthopedic experience is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities • Assist with a variety of surgical procedures under the direction of the surgeon and registered nurse., • Prepare operating rooms by arranging surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions., • Maintain a sterile environment in accordance with facility policies and applicable surgical standards., • Perform scrub-technologist duties across multiple surgical services and specialties., • Assemble and inspect sterile and non-sterile equipment and ensure proper functioning., • Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures., • Assist with retracting, suturing, and surgical counts of sponges, needles, instruments, and supplies., • Prepare, handle, and dispose of surgical specimens according to established procedures., • Assist with application of surgical dressings., • Ensure required instruments and case-specific equipment are available based on procedure requirements and preference cards., • Assist with transporting and positioning patients in the operating room., • Select and utilize appropriate sterilization methods for specialized equipment and instruments., • Demonstrate knowledge of the proper use and function of surgical equipment and supplies., • Operate sterilizers and assist with surgical equipment such as lights, suction, and diagnostic equipment as appropriate., • Prepare and label medications accurately and safely under the direction of the surgeon and registered nurse., • Assist with transferring patients to the recovery area., • Assist with operating-room turnover, cleaning, and restocking between procedures., • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, safety, and confidentiality., • Support a safe environment for surgical patients., • Assist with orientation and training of new operating-room personnel as assigned., • Work collaboratively with registered nurses, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other surgical staff., • Assist with maintaining and updating specialty-specific equipment and instrumentation., • Participate in staff meetings, in-service education, and professional development activities., • Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications, • Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Operating Room/Surgical Technician program., • Current NBSTSA certification required and must be maintained., • Current BLS certification required., • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English., • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and infection-control practices., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operating-room environment., • Strong teamwork, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.Preferred Qualifications, • Orthopedic surgical experience strongly preferred., • Experience working across multiple surgical specialties., • Experience with specialty-specific surgical instrumentation and equipment., • Previous hospital operating-room experience preferred.Additional Information, • Variable shift schedule., • 13-week contract assignment., • Travel and local compensation available., • Candidate must be comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary surgical team., • Strong commitment to patient safety, sterile technique, and quality surgical care required.
