    A Pet Care and Retail Associate is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role is responsible for the retail store cleanliness, maintenance, as well as the direct safe care of pets within our store. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone, at the sales register and online., • Greets pet parents and answers their questions throughout the store., • Ensure pets have a smooth, positive, pick-up and drop off experience., • Responsible for the pet healthcare of store owned pets and plants, which includes feeding, watering and cleaning all pet habitats (ie, birds and plants)., • Maintains total store cleanliness standards., • Supports retail success with product sorting, shelf stocking, and pricing updates., • Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise, services and supplies., • Promotes special events such as evening or weekend programming., • Ensures a safe environment for our associates, pets, and pet parents., • Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store., • Assists and works in various areas throughout the store (including services such as daycare, dog walking, pet bathing, pet home check-ins, etc) as required., • Including some boarding (on-site overnight care of animals)., • Other duties may be assigned., • Follow all Operations policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT • Associates are required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions., • Associates must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. The noise level is moderate in the work environment; however, associates may be exposed to high levels of noise at times. Exposure to live animals and their handling is common. Qualifications • 2+ years experience working with animals in similar business., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed., • Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure., • Animal Handling Certificate (or ability to obtain within first 30 days), • Animal CPR certificate (preferred not required) Compensation and Benefits Pet Care and Retail Associate are paid $16.50 an hour.     The Driver safely operates the delivery vehicle, and follows designated routes to deliver products to customers in a timely, organized manner. The driver is responsible for physically unloading product from the truck and moving product into customer locations. Duties And Responsibilities Safely operate a box truck, driving various routes during business hours Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes on a daily basis Follow specific delivery routes and time schedule to meet or exceed delivery deadlines Respond to back-calls and pick-ups from vendors or customers as needed Load and unload a delivery vehicle using hand trucks, pallet jacks, fold-downs and/or by physically carrying items. Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customer contacts at each delivery site Collect payments from customers in the form of cash or check, record invoices, and give all to VP of Operations or Day Logistics Clerk at end of shift. Understand and comply with DOT regulations Understand and comply with company Driver Safety Manual Complete driver medical certification every two years Handle all products with care to avoid damages and loss Take initiative to accomplish open tasks; be proactive and seek additional work when available Maintain positive work relations; support team work and help coworkers to accomplish team goals Listen and communicate respectfully with employees at all levels within the organization Attendance; Maintain regular attendance and follow call out and time off procedures as outlined in the handbook. Work Environment This job operates in a delivery vehicle travelling on major roadways in multiple cities and states. When making deliveries, moving in and out of customer locations, the role is exposed to outdoor elements such as weather. The position routinely uses hand trucks, pallet jacks and fold-downs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work begin at approximately 5:00 a.m. and end when deliveries or pick-ups are completed. Start and end times will vary based on routes assigned. The total hours per week are a minimum of 40 hours and may exceed 40 hours per week on a regular basis. This position may occasionally require longer hours when workload or project deadlines require it. Travel Travel includes daily driving of a delivery vehicle on designated routes throughout various cities and states. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision requirements for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; climb stairs; stoop; kneel; crouch; balance; use hands to finger, handle or feel a steering wheel, keypad, handheld device or phone; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to lift/carry 25-50 pounds safely from floor to waist height, and from waist height to shoulders. Occasionally, the employee will be expected to lift/carry 25-50 pounds above the shoulders. Occasionally, the employee will be expected to lift/carry over 50 pounds. Frequently the employee will be expected to push/pull items using a pallet jack and/or a fold-down with weight loads exceeding 100 pounds.
