This role will provide technical, operational, and project management support for environmental data modernization efforts, including floodplain mapping improvements, climate hazard data implementation, stakeholder engagement, and development of climate data products and tools. The ideal candidate will have experience managing technical projects involving climate resilience, geospatial data, environmental risk, and contractor coordination. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, collaboration across multiple stakeholders, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision. Primary Responsibilities1. Floodplain Mapping Coordination & Contractor Oversight • Facilitate statewide floodplain mapping improvement initiatives in partnership with environmental and governmental stakeholders, • Coordinate with state agencies and contractor teams to improve floodplain map quality, usability, and accessibility, • Oversee contractor activities related to floodplain modeling and technical deliverables, • Support technical review processes and contribute to quality assurance of contractor-produced floodplain products, • Manage project timelines, deliverables, contracts, and stakeholder communications, • Serve as the primary day-to-day coordinator for floodplain mapping initiatives2. Climate Hazard Data Integration & Program Support, • Support implementation and integration of climate hazard datasets across organizational programs and operational functions, • Collaborate with resilience, policy, research, and innovation teams to support climate-informed decision-making, • Build and maintain supporting tools, workflows, and guidance materials for internal teams, • Support organizational use cases related to climate hazard data including planning, analysis, public programs, and research initiatives, • Utilize GIS, Salesforce, and enterprise systems to support implementation activities3. Hazard Data Tool Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement, • Support enhancement of statewide hazard data tools for broader accessibility and practical implementation, • Conduct stakeholder engagement and user testing activities to ensure climate hazard data products are decision-ready and user-friendly, • Coordinate with government agencies, academic institutions, IT teams, and external partners to improve collaborative data products, • Support development of guidance materials, implementation resources, and training documentation, • Help improve climate data usability for planning, engineering, research, and resilience-related applications4. Climate Data Product Development & Innovation, • Support scoping, development, and rollout of new climate hazard datasets, tools, methodologies, and information products, • Identify data gaps and user needs through stakeholder engagement and product testing activities, • Collaborate with technical teams to develop or refine datasets, APIs, visualizations, and implementation tools, • Research emerging industry trends, technologies, and resilience methodologies, • Provide recommendations for future tools, workflows, and data product enhancements, • Oversee contractor technical teams as needed for specialized development initiativesRequired Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, climate science, geography, GIS, engineering, data science, risk management, computer science, or a related field, • 3–6 years of relevant project management, technical program, or climate resilience experience, • Demonstrated experience working with climate hazard datasets and environmental risk information, • Strong project coordination and contract management experience, • Experience managing technical stakeholders and cross-functional teams, • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deliverablesSpecialized Skills & Preferred Qualifications, • Familiarity with floodplain modeling approaches, • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, • Understanding of FEMA floodplain mapping products and floodplain management concepts, • Technical expertise related to climate hazards such as flooding, extreme heat, drought, or wind impacts, • Experience with GIS and geospatial analysis tools, • Experience conducting climate risk assessments, • Experience developing or implementing data products, platforms, dashboards, or APIs, • Familiarity with user research, prototyping, user testing, and agile workflows, • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership management experience, • Strategic planning and systems-thinking capabilities, • Python or other coding/data analysis experience preferred, • ArcGIS Pro, • ESRI Enterprise, • Salesforce, • Tableau, • SharePoint, • Microsoft Office 365, • Enterprise data management and collaboration systems#ZR APPLY NOW!
