    Job Title: Bar Supervisor – Speakeasy Cocktail Lounge Start Date: December (Pre-Opening & Launch Phase) Employment Type: Full-Time About the Venue: My client is opening an intimate, design-forward speakeasy cocktail bar in December, focused on elevated hospitality, innovated and interactive cocktails. The space is small but high-touch: dim lighting, curated music, high detailed vessel, and a menu that balances classics & creations. We’re looking for a Bar Supervisor who can help us build this experience from the ground up and lead the team on the floor once we open. Role Overview The Bar Supervisor will support day-to-day bar operations (Thursday to Saturday), ensure service standards are met, and act as a key link between ownership/management and the bar team. During the pre-opening phase, this role will assist with setup, training, and systems. Once open, the Bar Supervisor will be a hands-on leader on shift: supervising staff, be the face of the bar, and maintaining the guest experience and product quality. Key Responsibilities: Pre-Opening (December) • Assist management with bar setup: organizing back bar, storage, mise en place, and smallwares., • Help implement SOPs for opening, closing, service steps, and cleanliness., • Support with inventory setup (par levels, product organization, labeling, batch prep)., • Participate in (and help lead) staff training on cocktails, menu knowledge, sequence of service, and standards., • Give feedback on workflow behind the bar to optimize speed and efficiency. Service & Operations • Supervise bar staff during service, ensuring smooth operations and consistent drink quality., • Lead by example behind the bar: making cocktails, hosting guests at the bar counter, and supporting floor staff when needed., • Maintain speakeasy-level hospitality: personalized, discreet, attentive service with strong awareness of guest flow and atmosphere., • Monitor ticket times and product quality; step in to support when volume is high., • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and hygiene meet or exceed company and health department standards., • Open and/or close the bar according to SOPs, including cash handling, bar checks, and handover notes. Team & Training • Support the training and development of bartenders, barbacks, and servers on cocktail specs, service standards, and guest interaction., • Help foster a professional, respectful, and team-oriented culture. Product & Bar Program • Ensuring consistency across shifts., • Assist with prep & batching, garnish prep, and mise en place management., • Give feedback on the menu based on guest responses, speed, and operational feasibility., • Help ensure proper stock rotation, labeling, dating, and waste reduction. Compliance & Admin • Ensure all staff follow responsible alcohol service guidelines and local laws., • Help monitor inventory and ordering: track usage, communicate low stock, and assist with weekly counts., • Support with logging incidents, maintenance issues, and guest feedback for management. Qualifications • 2+ years of experience as a senior bartender, head bartender, bar supervisor, or similar role in a cocktail-focused venue., • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, and bar techniques; confident working in a fast-paced but intimate cocktail environment., • Proven ability to lead a team on the floor, give direction, and maintain standards under pressure., • Excellent guest service skills., • Strong sense of organization, cleanliness, and detail (bar setup, prep, and systems)., • Reliable, punctual., • Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and basic inventory practices. Preferred (Nice to Have) • Experience in speakeasies, hotel bars, or high-end cocktail bars., • Basic understanding of bar cost control, inventory, and ordering., • Interest in menu development and creative cocktails., • Food handler / responsible alcohol service certification (or willing to obtain before opening). Schedule & Compensation • Start: Early–mid December for training and pre-opening., • Schedule: Evenings and late nights, weekends required., • Compensation: Competitive hourly + tips (Exact package to be discussed during the interview.)
