Job Description Job Title: General Laborer – Industrial Services Job Description This role provides hands-on support for industrial cleaning and maintenance projects across multiple client sites in Athens, TN and surrounding areas. You perform physically demanding general labor in hot, dirty, and mostly outdoor environments, helping clean tanks, industrial equipment, and facility grounds using hand tools and specialized industrial equipment. Reliability, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and get dirty are essential, as this is not a light-duty position and often involves overtime and variable schedules based on customer needs. Responsibilities • Perform manual labor to support industrial cleaning and maintenance projects at various client locations., • Clean tanks, industrial equipment, and facility grounds using appropriate tools and methods., • Operate and use hand tools, shovels, pressure washers, and large industrial vacuum systems safely and effectively., • Assist with site preparation and cleanup before, during, and after projects to maintain a safe and organized work area., • Follow all safety procedures while working in and around heavy industrial environments, including steel mills, power plants, and chemical facilities., • Listen carefully to instructions and follow direction from supervisors and site leads throughout each project., • Travel to and work at multiple client locations as required by project assignments., • Maintain job site cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of tools and equipment., • Support extended shifts and overtime work, including Saturdays, when projects require additional coverage., • Adapt to changing schedules and project demands while maintaining dependable attendance. Essential Skills • Willingness to perform hard, physical labor in hot, dirty, and challenging outdoor environments., • Dependable attendance and strong reliability, with a commitment to showing up every day as scheduled., • Ability to listen carefully, follow instructions, and learn new tasks on the job., • Comfort working around heavy industrial equipment, industrial noise, and rugged terrain., • Experience with general labor, construction, or production work, including tasks such as lifting, stacking, sweeping, and groundskeeping., • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in an industrial setting., • Capability to perform pressure washing and related cleaning tasks for industrial equipment and surfaces., • Flexibility to work variable first-shift hours (such as 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, or 7:00 AM–3:30 PM) depending on customer needs., • Availability and willingness to work overtime, including extended 12-hour shifts and Saturdays when required., • Comfort traveling to multiple client sites in the Athens, TN area and nearby locations such as Charleston. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Possession of a TWIC card is highly beneficial for access to certain client sites., • Prior experience in industrial services, construction, concrete work, or general production is an advantage., • Experience with forklift operation is helpful for some projects., • Experience in painting, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance adds value to the role., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in fast-paced industrial environments., • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude toward demanding, hands-on tasks. Work Environment The work takes place primarily outdoors, with approximately 90% of duties performed outside in hot, dirty, and physically demanding conditions. You work on client sites that include steel manufacturing facilities, power plants during shutdowns, and chemical plants, with regular exposure to industrial noise, weather, and rugged terrain. The schedule is first shift but varies based on customer requirements, with typical hours such as 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, or 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, and some projects requiring extended 6:00 AM–6:00 PM shifts for several days per week. Overtime is common, including Saturday work when projects fall behind, so flexibility is essential. You use hand tools, power tools, shovels, pressure washers, and large industrial vacuum systems in an industrial field environment, wearing appropriate work clothing suitable for dirty, physically intensive tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
