Why you should Join IKEA for Business team? Hej! My name is Ramón and I am privileged to lead the global engineering teams of IKEA for Business. In IKEA for Business, we allow other companies around the world to deliver upon their dreams with our interior design solutions and products – be it a small tech start‑up with a handful of employees, a local restaurant that wants to expand, or a large real estate development firm that needs thousands of kitchens for their next project. The scale and diversity of IKEA for Business is mind‑blowing, and we are looking for an extraordinary team that will tackle it all. IKEA for Business is also one of the main growth contribution areas for us as a company. Already a multi‑billion‑euro line of business for IKEA, and it is poised to grow substantially over the coming years. This area is being driven by our team in the IKEA global digital hub in Madrid, so this is a unique opportunity for technology leaders who are based in Spain and want to be part of a once‑in‑a‑lifetime transformation in one of the most iconic companies worldwide. What does an Engineering Manager do at IKEA? Build and run the technology that underpins our global 40 Billion Euro business, operating across 377+ stores and 30 countries. Drive innovation across the software landscape, from creating greenfield solutions to evolving and integrating existing systems, achieving massive scale impact in one of IKEA's key strategic areas for the coming years. Work in a startup‑like environment, but with all the support of a global, iconic and value‑driven company like IKEA. Lead, inspire and motivate a high‑performing team of engineers. Help the teams drive a cloud‑first agenda, adhere to modern software engineering principles and best practices, utilize the proper tools, and automate everything to enable the specified business outcomes. Recruitment, performance, competence and career development of individuals will also be part of your responsibilities. Provide technical domain knowledge, architectural leadership and coach the teams in high‑class standards for software engineering and operations. Work closely with the assigned product owners and all groups within the Digital Technology organisation to deliver the assigned digital products and services. Help build a digital mindset and an engineering culture that is accountability and results‑oriented, where Lean principles and a DevOps mindset will be in the core. What would we ask from you? Solid technical background You have a good balance of breadth and depth in technical knowledge. Experienced or familiar with BDD, TDD, test automation, Continuous Delivery, DevOps, code versioning, security, and industry standard toolsets. You have experience creating software at global scale, preferably in cloud‑based microservices architectures. You know design and architecture concepts (i.e. microservices, API‑first, event‑driven architectures…) and the ability to apply them within the software development lifecycle. People skills A true team player, that really cares about the work you and your team do and are not afraid to share ideas and chase opportunities. You have a real passion for managing engineers and building high performing, happy, focused and empathetic teams. Love to inspire your engineering teams and others to build the highest standard of software that builds confidence with our customers, operations and stakeholders due to its excellence in agility, quality and resilience. Enjoy creating a one‑team atmosphere between all co‑workers in engineering, product, data science, business development, operations etc. You are inclusive, humble and passionate about creating a learning organization. Delivery obsession Early and continuous delivery of value to our customers is your obsession. Still, the software your team builds must be robust, scalable, secure and reliable. You are comfortable with uncertainty and with a greenfield context where many things are still to be done and some dependencies will need to be managed. Enjoy building your teams with a DevOps mentality to develop new, scalable, enterprise technology, able to run globally 24/7. Customer and Business Orientation Must have a passion for using technology to build products that solve real‑world problems. You don’t perceive technology as an end, but as a way to transform the world, creating amazing products and experiences that impact our customers worldwide. You have a relentless passion and vision for meeting the customer promise and will motivate engineers to be outcome focused and innovate/learn to solve challenges. QUESTIONS? SUPPORT? LET'S CONNECT!
