Barcelona
Some AI roles focus on experimentation. This one focuses on making it work in delivery. We are looking for an AI Engineer to join NTT DATA in Barcelona and help implement the AI backbone that supports how work gets done: from code analysis and requirement refinement to automated gap analysis and specification generation. This is a role for someone who is comfortable turning AI from a promising capability into something robust, scalable, and useful inside real delivery contexts. You will work on the layer that enables AI to interact effectively with codebases, architectures, and delivery processes. That means configuring and orchestrating models and agents, improving the quality of AI-driven outputs, and helping shape an engineering approach where prompt design, architecture knowledge, and software rigor come together. At NTT DATA, you will do that in a company that combines global reach with a human-scale way of working. We are a team of more than 139,000 professionals across more than 50 countries, working on technology and consulting challenges across industries including financial services, industry, utilities, public sector, and healthcare. Our ambition is not only to deliver results to clients, but to do it through collaboration, innovation, and meaningful professional growth. What makes this opportunity different This is not a purely research-oriented AI role, and it is not a conventional software engineering role with AI added on top. It is a role for someone who can: implement the AI delivery backbone behind real engineering workflows, configure, train, and orchestrate AI models or agents on top of existing codebases, improve automated gap analysis, requirement refinement, and specification generation, and ensure outputs are reliable enough to support real teams and real business needs. You will work very closely with the Intent Engineer, forming a strong techno-functional pairing between business intent and AI-enabled technical execution. Your mission You will be responsible for implementing and evolving the AI backbone that supports delivery, ensuring that AI-driven outputs are robust, scalable, accurate, and usable across insurance-related transformation work. Your day-to-day Configure, train, and orchestrate AI models and agents on top of existing codebases. Enable automated gap analysis, requirement refinement, and specification generation. Improve the robustness, scalability, and accuracy of AI-driven outputs. Work closely with the Intent Engineer to iterate, validate, and finalize specifications. Apply AI-native engineering practices to delivery scenarios, not just experimentation. Use Claude or similar LLMs inside engineering workflows, including IDE-based usage. Design and refine prompts for code analysis, generation, and improvement. Contribute to architectures involving APIs, integrations, microservices, and event-driven components. What we are looking for 4+ years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, applied GenAI, or a similar hands-on technical role. Familiarity with AI-native engineering practices, including approaches similar to Gastown. Hands-on experience with Claude or similar LLMs. Experience using LLMs directly within IDEs and development workflows. Strong prompt engineering capability applied to development tasks such as code analysis, code generation, and refinement. Strong grounding in modern software engineering patterns, especially: API design and integration, microservices architecture, event-driven and integration modules. Experience working with existing codebases and enabling AI-driven analysis on top of them. Understanding of prompt engineering as a practical engineering tool, not just an experimentation layer. Ability to work closely with both technical and techno-functional profiles in iterative environments. Experience in insurance or regulated enterprise environments will be especially valuable. Professional level of English. What you will find at NTT DATA At NTT DATA, growth happens through meaningful work, real ownership, and exposure to challenges that matter. Our talent approach is built around three pillars: creating a sense of belonging, enabling continuous development, and pushing innovation through an AI-first mindset. That means working in teams where each voice matters, learning continuously, and contributing to end-to-end solutions that have real impact on clients and society. You will join a company where: collaboration is part of how delivery happens, learning is expected and supported, innovation is practical and connected to business value, and your growth is linked to the quality of the challenges you take on. Benefits As part of the Spain collective, you will have access to benefits designed to support flexibility, wellbeing, savings, and community, including: hybrid and flexible working model, Flex remote-work support, flexible compensation options, nursery voucher options through flexible compensation, training support, corporate private health insurance for you, with strong coverage for eligible beneficiaries, life and accident insurance, mental health support programs, sports activities, discounts portal and additional banking and insurance advantages. Why this role, why now AI can accelerate delivery, but only when it is built into engineering with rigor. That is what makes this role important. You will help turn models, prompts, and agents into a reliable delivery capability that teams can use with confidence. Not as a demo. Not as a side experiment. As part of how modern engineering gets done. If you are looking for a role where you can combine software architecture, LLM enablement, prompt engineering, and real-world delivery impact in insurance, this is a strong place to keep growing. Make this the place where you grow.
