The Opportunity Are you ready to shape the future of energy? At Hitachi Energy, we are investing to establish and develop an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid, Spain (ESOPC) within Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU). Therefore, we are seeking highly qualified engineers in the fields of Power Electronics, Grid Integration, and Research and Development (R&D) to join us in this exciting opportunity. Hitachi Energy provides solutions to electrify and power networks and systems, including power electronic systems for power conversion and quality. As part of the Spanish Operation Centre, you will be part of a team to support the design, manufacturing, and delivery of such technologies all over Europe. How you'll make an impact Lead the electromechanical (primary) design of the substation, securing the correct functionality, reliability, and compliance of the overall system from concept to implementation. Develop and review 3D models, coordinating interfaces and resolving clashes between civil, structural, and electromechanical designs. Prepare, review, and validate technical specifications for primary equipment, ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards. Provide technical recommendations throughout design, engineering, and execution phases to ensure safe, high‑quality, and cost‑efficient solutions. Support project teams with change and claim management related to the primary scope, evaluating technical impacts, costs, timelines, and risks while maintaining transparent communication with customers. Collaborate closely with the wider engineering team to share best practices and strengthen skills in coordination, communication, and technical leadership. Uphold core values: safety, integrity, and quality in every stage of the engineering process. Your background A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering. More than 5 years of experience in Power Systems, Power quality, Power Grid Solution, Power transmission (HVDC), Substations. Knowledge of SolidWorks/ Revit or other 3D Modelling using Plant Design Tools, Assembly Design Tools, or BIM 360. A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills. Fluent in English. Willingness to travel up to 10%, more in the beginning for learning.
