What challenge will you be taking on? We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team—someone with extensive experience in embedded software development who, ideally, has held technical leadership or project management roles. You will take on a wide range of software engineering responsibilities, focusing on system‑level design and integration for embedded flight applications. Key responsibilities • Defining and analyzing software and system requirements., • Leading or collaborating on the design of the architecture and interfaces between hardware and software domains., • Developing and integrating mission‑critical components: device drivers, real‑time operating system (RTOS) elements, communication protocols, and data management software., • Perform unit, integration, and system‑level testing, including Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL)., • Support verification and validation activities in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ECSS, DO‑178C)., • Develop and review technical documentation and ensure compliance with coding standards and quality metrics. What do we need in our team? For this position, we are looking for graduates with a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in software development. The ideal candidate should have a background and experience in: • C/C++ for embedded systems and real‑time applications., • Understanding of real‑time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development., • Experience in low‑level programming, including device drivers, BSPs, and hardware/software integration., • Familiarity with software development tools (e.g., cross‑compilers, debuggers, static analysis)., • Knowledge of aerospace software standards (e.g., ECSS, DO‑178C) and secure coding practices. We will also value the following: • Software engineering practices based on ESA’s ECSS standards (e.g., ECSS‑E‑ST‑40, ECSS‑Q‑ST‑80)., • Experience with model‑based design, software validation environments (SVF), and component‑based development tools., • Familiarity with space systems architecture, including space‑grade processors (e.g., LEON, ARM) and onboard buses (e.g., CAN, SpaceWire, MIL‑STD‑1553)., • Knowledge of time and space partitioning (TSP) and its implementation in flight software.
