Reports to: R&D Team Lead Join the Sevensense by ABB unit as an experienced Robotic Applications Engineer in the Robotic Systems team. As part of this role, you will serve as the link between product development and real‑world deployments of our technology. You will join a team of highly talented, motivated and collaborative professionals located in Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona) and Zurich, Switzerland. Working closely with ABB Robotics Project Teams, Support Teams, and internal R&D Teams, you will investigate field issues, analyze system performance, identify root causes, and help develop solutions that improve product robustness and scalability. You will also work hands‑on with robotic platforms to develop and validate new features, reproduce field issues, and verify fixes. Through direct exposure to deployed systems, you will help ensure customer success while providing valuable feedback that drives the product evolution. As an ideal candidate you demonstrate initiative, ownership, teamwork and a high degree of autonomy. You will be mainly accountable for: • Supporting ABB Robotics Project and Support Teams by providing expert technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance during integration, commissioning and operation of deployed systems., • Investigating complex field issues, performing root‑cause analysis, and collaborating with R&D Teams to deliver effective and scalable solutions., • Developing tools, processes and software adaptations that improve diagnostics, product integration, and support efficiency., • Collecting and analyzing field feedback to identify product gaps, improve system performance, and help shape future product development., • 3+ years of industrial experience in robotics, autonomous systems, systems engineering, applications engineering, technical support engineering, or related fields., • Strong software engineering and debugging skills in Python, with experience troubleshooting complex software systems., • Experience working with Linux‑based systems and networking fundamentals., • Familiarity with robotics concepts such as localization, mapping, navigation, perception, or autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Experience with ROS/ROS2., • Proven ability to investigate complex technical issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive problems to resolution across multidisciplinary teams., • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering, project, support, or customer‑facing teams., • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites when required., • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
