We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead the day-to-day transport operation at our IMS site in Southend, Shoeburyness. You will be responsible for delivering a safe, compliant and efficient service, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and supporting continuous improvement across the site. This role works closely with our Group Transport Manager (based at another location), who holds the company’s Operator’s Licence. You will ensure site processes fully support O-Licence compliance and report any issues promptly. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and motivate the site Transport team, promoting a strong safety and customer-focused culture., • Ensure site compliance with transport legislation, Health & Safety and internal policies., • Work closely with the Group Transport Manager to maintain all O-Licence standards (no personal O-Licence required)., • Manage daily vehicle operations, maintenance coordination and driver resourcing., • Oversee transport KPIs, cost control, and opportunities to improve efficiency., • Manage 3PL providers to ensure service quality and cost effectiveness., • Ensure accurate and timely completion of transport administration and MI reporting., • Work collaboratively with the warehouse team and other departments to deliver integrated logistics solutions., • Handle performance management, coaching and involvement in HR processes where required., • Support ad-hoc projects and wider business initiatives. Qualifications & Skills • Proven experience in a Transport Manager role., • Strong understanding of transport regulations, vehicle operations and driver management., • Experience managing or supporting O-Licence compliance (not required to hold the O-Licence)., • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills., • Ability to analyse performance data, manage costs and drive improvements., • Strong problem-solving approach and ability to make decisions under pressure., • Confident working with transport systems, route planning tools and reporting platforms. Desirable • CPC qualification (national or international) – preferred but not essential., • Experience working within a fast-paced logistics, manufacturing or industrial environment., • Knowledge of 3PL management and warehouse transport integration. Hours: Mondays to Fridays, 8am to 5pm Salary: £45-55k depending on experience.
