Engineering Lead Basingstoke – On-Site About the Company Excellent opportunity to join a global IT Services organisation and preferred partner of the UK MOD. Due to growth and demand a new role has been created for an experienced engineering lead to come on board and drive change management and improving tooling and processes What’s on Offer • £75,000 – £78,000 base salary, • Up to 15% annual bonus, • £6,000 car allowance, • 10% pension contribution, • Private medical insurance & life assurance, • 26 days annual leave + public holidays, • Flexible benefits package (increased holidays, travel, dental, critical illness cover & more), • Excellent career progression and skill up ops What You’ll Do As an Engineering Lead, you’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end engineering function across multiple technologies and suppliers. Acting as part of the customer’s Design Authority, you’ll define, govern, and oversee engineering standards, tooling, and strategy — ensuring delivery excellence, consistency, and alignment with business goals. Key Responsibilities: • Lead on engineering process, governance, and technology strategy, • Define standards, processes, and lifecycle guidance across software, infrastructure, and service management, • Oversee engineering governance and ensure delivery of high-quality artefacts across multiple suppliers, • Define and implement automation tooling architecture and processes, • Develop and communicate a strategic engineering vision supporting long-term business goals, • Lead the Engineering Community of Practice, fostering collaboration and technical excellence, • Drive automation capability growth, sharing best practices across programmes, • Support project teams to adopt engineering processes and tooling effectively, • Represent engineering at Design Authority meetings, ensuring strategic alignment and value delivery What You Need • Proven experience leading complex engineering functions within a large-scale technology or digital transformation environment, • Deep understanding of engineering governance, process design, and automation tooling, • Strong track record in strategy development, architecture definition, and delivery assurance, • Experience managing diverse technical teams or communities of practice, • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, • Ability to operate confidently within multi-supplier or highly governed environments, • A passion for innovation, quality, and continuous improvement, • Please note given the sector this role is subject to high level security clearances.
