Job Title:\nCombat Systems Engineer – External Communications \n Location: Frimley, Portsmouth\nBroad Oak or Weymouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible\nworking arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about\nthe options for this particular role. \n Salary: Negotiable depending\non experience What you’ll be\ndoing: • Capturing and\nagreeing technical requirements in accordance with company and\nprogramme processes, • Reviewing technical\nsolutions against contractual requirements and regulations for\ncompliancy, • Design documentation generated,\ncaptured, configured and controlled in accordance with company\nprocesses, • Design change requirements and\ndocumentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in\naccordance with company processes, • Captured and\nagreed input to appropriate Verification Cross-Reference Index\n(VCRI), Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAP)\nand Qualification Plans, • Understand and\ninterpret the User Needs, Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and\nConcept of Use (CONUSE) and be able to derive the technical and\nfunctional requirements for specific external communications\nsystems, • Ensure design proving evidence is\ncomprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools (IBM DOORS) and\nhas been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority\n, • Understand the contractual and performance requirements\nfor external communications systems and support the definition and\nassociated acceptance criteria and events through design, build,\nintegration, installation and commissioning LCM process using\nCADMID, • Understand and support the flow-down of\nrequirements to suppliers and acceptance of their specific\ndeliverables, ensuring it is captured and recorded\nappropriately, • Provide specialist technical\nsupport to shipbuilder installation, integration activities and\ncommissioning activities (included in-service refitting\nauthorities), • Knowledge of\nexternal (over the air) communications systems in the maritime\ndefence domain and have a comprehensive understanding of how such\nsystems and associated activities interact with the overall\nplatform (knowledge of the whole radio frequency spectrum,\nData/Voice Communications and Systems Network Architecture).\nPlatform and ideally sea experience in an operational, build,\ntrials or in-service support environment in order to have gained an\nunderstanding of the operational needs and requirements of a Combat\nSystem, and to help be credible with the Customer and\nUser, • Have good awareness of Product Safety and\nSHE\n The ECS (External\nCommunications Systems) team: You\nwill be joining a tight knit and diverse team who are always\nlooking to share their knowledge / expertise in this area. Challenges are met as a team,\nand this is an opportunity to both showcase your ability to engage\nwith stakeholders and your collaborative skills. \n This role will have you leading areas such as\nRequirements Management\nand Testing & Integration of equipment into wider systems\nacross Submarines.
