Technical Lead / Architect (.NET) – Chesterfield – New (REF50) A market-leading organisation is looking to appoint a Technical Lead / Architect to help shape the technical direction of two software development teams working on a shared product suite within a common framework. This role suits a technical leader with strong expertise in C# and the .NET framework, capable of designing secure, scalable architectures while providing day-to-day technical leadership. You will play a key role in modernising legacy systems, supporting the delivery of new features, and ensuring technical decisions align closely with both user needs and wider business goals. With a strong customer focus, you will contribute to requirement definition, influence product direction, and support solutions used within a growing global market. Duties & Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain software solutions using the .NET framework, • Define system architecture and provide technical leadership across multiple teams, • Work closely with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and refine requirements, • Lead code reviews, set coding standards, and mentor developers, • Produce clear technical documentation, including specifications and design patterns, • Develop and own long-term strategies for evolving and modernising a legacy codebase, • Collaborate with QA, Sales, and other internal teams to support delivery, • Participate in occasional customer site visits, including potential international travel, to support installations and gather feedback Skills & Experience (Essential) • 5+ years’ experience designing and delivering solutions using the .NET framework, • Strong experience architecting scalable, secure, and high-performance systems, • Hands-on development experience with C# and modern .NET technologies, • Ability to translate business and user requirements into robust technical designs, • Experience leading code reviews and establishing best practice standards, • Proven experience modernising legacy systems and defining long-term technical roadmaps, • Experience with at least two of the following:, • ORM frameworks (NHibernate, Entity Framework, etc.), • SQL Server or other relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL), • DevExpress components Desirable • Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or similar, • Experience designing or working with APIs and microservices architectures, • Exposure to Azure services and cloud-based development, • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation practices Rewards & Benefits • Competitive holiday allowance including bank holidays, with additional leave increasing with service, • Annual team-building weekend for employees and their families, • Private medical cover, • Company pension scheme, • Death-in-service benefit, • Access to a range of lifestyle and wellbeing benefits, • On-site health and fitness facilities, • Cycle-to-Work scheme
