Job Title: Network Engineer (Cisco Routing & Switching / Automation) Location: Farnborough (3 days onsite) Salary: £DOE + benefits The Opportunity We’re looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Network Engineer to join a growing team based in Farnborough. This role is ideal for someone with strong Cisco routing & switching expertise who is also passionate about network automation and scripting. You will play a key role in designing, supporting and evolving a modern enterprise network, while helping drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability and reliability. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement and support Cisco-based network infrastructure (LAN/WAN), • Configure and troubleshoot routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, etc.), • Manage and optimise network performance, resilience and security, • Develop and maintain network automation solutions using Python and scripting tools, • Support infrastructure-as-code and automation frameworks (e.g. Ansible, REST APIs), • Participate in network upgrades, migrations and transformation projects, • Monitor network health and proactively resolve issues, • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across infrastructure, security and cloud, • Maintain clear technical documentation and standards Required Skills & Experience • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing & switching, • CCNP certified (or equivalent experience), • Solid understanding of:, • TCP/IP networking, • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), • Switching technologies (VLANs, STP), • Experience with network automation and scripting Python, • Bash, PowerShell or similar, • Familiarity with tools such as:, • Ansible, Terraform or similar automation frameworks, • Network monitoring tools (e.g. SolarWinds, PRTG), • Experience troubleshooting complex network environments, • Strong problem-solving and communication skills Desirable • Experience with SD-WAN or network virtualisation, • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), • Knowledge of network security principles (firewalls, VPNs), • Experience working in high-availability or regulated environments What We’re Looking For • A proactive, self-driven engineer with a passion for automation and continuous improvement, • Someone who can balance hands-on technical work with strategic thinking, • A strong team player who can also work independently, • A clear communicator able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders What’s on Offer • Competitive salary and benefits package, • Hybrid working (Farnborough-based with flexibility), • Opportunity to work on modern, evolving network infrastructure, • Support for training and professional development, • A collaborative and forward-thinking technical environment Security Clearance (SC) UKEO or eligibility to gain is required to be considered for this vacancy
