Aureos are seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join our team in Blantyre. The successful candidate will manage a team of Operatives (including sub or preferred contractors) by applying quality procedures, safe working practices and effective planning to ensure completion of work in a timely and cost-effective manner. Responsible for customer interface for scoping, solution development, estimating, quoting and delivery of HV projects. Key responsibilities Promotion of positive Health and Safety culture: Actively promote a positive safety culture; monitor and control functional safety performance and comply with the company operational safety rules, we must ensure all Company and customer safety rules and procedures are applied by staff and contractors; Develop SHE plans for live projects and conduct RAMS reviews and briefings; Conduct induction briefings to all operatives, sub-contractors and visitors on site safety and rules; Deliver TBTs; Collate actions following LSG meetings for required SHEQ tasks; Investigate, conduct interviews, and prepare reports following SHE incidents; Conduct site-based engagements on SHE promotion to field staff (including Depotnet inspections and engagement with the Client/Main Contractor). Compliance with British Standards and/or any project specific specification or instructions: Ensure that all works undertaken comply with the appropriate British Standards and/or any project specific specification or instructions. You will also be required to provide engagement and ensure compliance with the Aureos safe systems of work. Business Growth and Work Winning: Client Management and Interactions: act as Client liaison to gauge satisfaction levels and identify potential future works/scope on-site or other projects. Project Documentation Reviews: Review specification documents, drawings, cable schedules, GA's, datums and settings, instructions of installation works Purchase and delivery of materials and equipment: Ensure timely purchasing and delivery of materials and equipment to customer site(s); Ensure logistics management and materials handling is in line with Aureos Quality Procedures, and that wastage is kept to a minimum (includes review of deliveries and lifting plans for goods, etc. to ensure traffic management and notifications are planned). Optimal resource allocation and utilisation: Drive efficient and profitable use of the labour resources to ensure satisfactory progress is maintained; Continually review priorities and deadlines and consult with the Line Manager when applicable, to formulate action plans; deliver cost effective solutions and client satisfaction. Mobilisation, site set-up and execution of on-site installation works: Brief the team and sub-contractors on programme requirements and key dates for target plans; Conduct pre-construction set-up of site(s) inclusive of fencing, welfare, signage, waste management, demarcation, etc.; Carry out on-site installation works applicable to the skills of the individuals; During project construction, ensure all switching schedules and operational paperwork are prepared and in line with company safety rules and procedures; Solve problems on-site within the scope of the project to ensure compliance and programme adherence; Conduct daily site liaison/technical meetings and coordinate with client site representative(s) to update on Progress; Sign off timesheets of operational staff. Recording and communication of work variations/extras: Ensure that any work variations or extras are recorded and communicated to the Line Manager at regular intervals to ensure timely submission to the client. Aureos site/meeting representation: Act as the main Aureos site contact for the client/client’s representative; Represent Aureos at site progress reviews and other meetings for input and information, where applicable, e.g. attend site pre-project visits to carry out site surveys and investigations for engineering solutions and estimate input; attend site programme review briefings on key activity objectives. Supervision of Operatives and Contractors: Supervise all Operatives, Sub or Preferred Contractors under own control in accordance with Company Procedures and Safety Regulations. Quality Checks, Commissioning Management and Project Handovers: Ensure on-site HV works are carried out to acceptable standards by both direct and subcontract operatives; Attend site-based quality inspections of works, collect actions from defect identification; Manage commissioning plan on-site with all stakeholders and liaise on shutdowns, testing programmes etc; Represent Aureos at project handover client meetings for input and information. Site Safety Inspections: Conduct site safety inspections and record on Aureos online SHE audit system (DepotNet). Delivery of on-the-job training: Support all team members in training on HV Operations and development of future engineers; Act as a mentor to trainee SAP's for operational/commercial and SHE matters; Ensure operational authorisations are kept up to date with changes in policies; provide regular reports to the relevant Line Manager on the progress of individual trainees. Maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment: Ensure that all vehicles, plant and equipment are used and maintained in a satisfactory manner. Invoicing and performance tracking: Ensure invoicing is completed (agree valuation of work order with client and raise invoice request on system for administrator to raise invoice); Ensure monthly financial targets are met. Document preparation support: Assist Line Manager with the preparation of specifications, estimates, designs, valuations and health and safety documentation; Ensure all job documentation is completed correctly, in accordance with Aureos Quality Procedures; Preparation of Operations and Maintenance Manuals: Assist Line Manager to prepare Operations & Maintenance manuals and as-built drawings. Management of certifications: Ensure refreshers are booked in a timely manner in order for authorisations not to lapse to the detriment of the BU. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Business Knowledge: • Considerable breadth of customer centric experience across a range of HV contracting activities, i.e. project delivery (including estimating, quoting, and project delivery)., • Experience in performing switching operations in HV substations and switchrooms., • Awareness of the Company’s activities, objectives and procedures., • Understanding of Construction Design Management (CDM) for managing sites., • Good knowledge of industry best practice and regulations (e.g. safety and electrical regulations). Essential Functional / Technical Skills: • Understanding of basic design principles., • Excellent knowledge of fault finding on HV systems., • Excellent understanding of protection principles and operation, • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification or equivalent., • Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) - accreditation of qualifications and experience., • Senior Authorised Person who is capable of obtaining SAP status on DNO Networks., • ECS, • Able to act as control engineer, • Good communications skills (listens; welcomes feedback)., • Good time management., • Good people management skills and be able to empower, motivate staff and contractors., • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects., • Organisational skills: planning and organising materials, labour and subcontractors autonomously for works; supporting HV Project Managers in planning and organising materials, labour and subcontractors for larger/more complex works., • Have good attention to detail., • Experience in achieving excellent business performance through site project teams., • Management skills (decision making; handling conflict; providing direction and vision)., • Structured and logical problem solving on site projects., • Flexibility in managing project challenges and team., • Confidence and skill in directing others., • Outstanding self-reliance, resourcefulness and initiative., • Customer focussed and results oriented., • Team development., • Articulate, assertive, empathetic and persuasive in all customer contacts., • Commitment to continuous improvement (self, team, business)., • Conducts business giving due consideration to the Aureos Company core values.
