About the Company An established engineering and manufacturing business is currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join its engineering team. This is a senior-level role with a strong balance between hands-on electrical design, technical leadership, and continuous improvement. About the Role The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems for complex, industry-leading products, while also contributing to team development, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and control architectures in line with EN60204-33, EN13849, UL, and CSA standards, including CE marking., • Produce high-quality electrical schematics, drawings, and layouts using industry-standard CAD tools (Solid Edge and/or AutoCAD preferred)., • Work closely with mechanical, software, and firmware engineers to ensure fully integrated system designs., • Support engineering management and Lead Engineers with task planning, workload allocation, and delivery against project deadlines., • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers within the team, including onboarding and ongoing development support., • Ensure engineering outputs are produced in a consistent, compliant format, aligned with company quality systems and regulatory requirements., • Act as a technical point of contact for other departments, responding to design queries and information requests., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and optimise resource utilisation., • Chair engineering-related meetings and attend cross-functional reviews to communicate progress, risks, and priorities., • Promote a collaborative “one-team” culture, supporting other departments where required to ensure consistent engineering delivery. Qualifications • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline., • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status desirable but not essential. Required Skills • Strong background in the design of precision electrical and electro-mechanical systems., • Broad understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and production environments., • Proven experience working to international standards and regulatory compliance., • High level of technical competence in electrical design and CAD software., • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a structured environment., • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with confidence working across disciplines., • Sound engineering judgement, decision-making capability, and problem-solving approach., • Ability to identify and implement process and system improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency., • Strong understanding of engineering drawing and design best practice.
