Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services Ltd (DSFS) – a subsidiary of Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust – is looking for a multi-skilled tradesperson to join our mechanical team in the estates workshop. The workshop provides maintenance services to Chesterfield Royal Hospital and external clients. You will need strong team‑working skills, experience in a maintenance role, and the ability to work independently and to targets. The post‑holder will: • Work on the tradesperson on‑call rota, with additional payments on top of the stated salary., • Support building and electrical workshops within the scope of their skills., • Perform all planned preventative maintenance and reactive tasks across plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements, HTMs, and relevant codes of practice., • Carry out significant system alterations, including major pipework modifications, installation of commercial valves, replacement of AHU coils and pump sets. Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services Ltd does not offer a Certificate of Sponsorship; applications requiring sponsorship will not be considered. DSFS has just under 1000 staff across soft and hard facilities services, and corporate services including ICT, patient records, switchboard, procurement, finance and clinical engineering. We strive to build a diverse and inclusive workforce, valuing every colleague's abilities, uniqueness and individuality. • NVQ3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)., • Evidence of continuing professional development., • Significant post‑qualification training in plumbing, heating, ventilation or medical gas., • Significant experience working with commercial heating, plumbing and ventilation systems, both maintenance and installation., • Experience managing more junior trades staff and/or apprentices., • Experience using Computer Aided Facilities Management software., • Experience working as a Medical Gas, Ventilation or Water Competent Person., • Experience in at least two of the following areas: Natural Gas (Domestic), Natural Gas (Commercial), Medical Gas CP, Water Systems CP, Ventilation CP, Pressure Systems CP, Refrigeration, Building Management Systems., • Rapid learner of new skills, utilising trade background., • Ability to source information to correctly install materials., • Knowledge of statutory requirements for installation work., • Proficient with hand and power tools to produce work to an excellent standard., • Capable of reading and understanding engineering drawings in area of expertise., • Enthusiastic, highly motivated with initiative and ability to determine priorities., • Effective communication with customers, other departments, hospital and RPC colleagues., • Committed to continuous improvement and learning., • High integrity in the work environment., • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
