This role is a newly created HR Business Partner position supporting a high-growth cluster of companies within the Built Environment division of Phenna Group, with a strong focus on end-to-end HR, talent, and change across a largely technical workforce. Role overview A HR Business Partner is required to support a business unit of around 400 employees across the UK within a cluster of testing, compliance, environmental and sustainability businesses in the built environment sector. This is a 360° generalist position, combining strategic partnering with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced, partly regulated environment. Key responsibilities • Act as the right-hand partner to the BU Director and leadership team, shaping and delivering the people plan across a multi-site, predominantly technical workforce., • Lead and advise on employee relations and casework, managing lower volume but higher complexity matters across professional and technical employee groups., • Support M&A activity including TUPE, redundancy consultations, organisational change and integration projects across the cluster., • Drive talent management, workforce planning, and high-volume recruitment activity to support growth and retention., • Develop and implement reward, motivation and engagement initiatives, particularly for a dispersed, remote and site-based workforce., • Use people data and key metrics to inform decision-making and demonstrate commercial value to the business., • Coach and upskill managers on people leadership, performance, and change management. Candidate profile • Background in a fast-paced, product or service-led environment such as engineering, manufacturing, professional services, or technical consultancy., • Strong HR generalist grounding with proven experience in employee relations, TUPE, redundancy and broader change management., • Track record in workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, engagement and management development., • Confident leading meetings, influencing senior stakeholders and showcasing the value of HR to the business., • Comfortable working with a professional/technical employee base, able to build credibility quickly and operate at pace., • Personally coachable, organised, efficient and adaptable, with a growth mindset and aspiration to develop into a senior HR leader over time. Location and structure • Base: 3 days per week in Wakefield, with hybrid working available for the remainder., • Scope: UK-wide remit across a cluster of built environment businesses within Phenna Group’s Built Environment division., • Reporting: Hard line into MD and dotted line into UK HR team (all remote, cluster-based), with one local direct report (HR Administrator).
