Location: Oldham Agency: Teaching Personnel Start Date: ASAP Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident, proactive and resilient Primary and Secondary School SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Oldham. The school is a high-quality alternative to mainstream provision for children with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) across the 4 to 19 age range. About the Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, support staff, and families to ensure each pupil receives compassionate, structured, and personalised support. Your role will involve helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where pupils can grow academically, emotionally, and socially, developing at a pace that meets their individual needs. Key Responsibilities Supporting pupils with SEN needs. Delivering 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities to suit sensory, communication and cognitive needs Using communication tools such as PECS, visual timetables, sensory resources and AAC strategies Supporting pupils during regulated and dysregulated behaviours using positive behaviour and de-escalation approaches Assisting with the preparation of engaging learning resources and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment Promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, confidence and essential life skills through positive relationships and consistent routines Providing personal care support, including toileting, feeding, mobility and changing where required Requirements Essential: Confident, proactive and able to use initiative when supporting SEN pupils Patient, adaptable and resilient with a genuine passion for SEN support Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Willing to assist with personal care and mobility needs Available full-time and committed to a long-term placement Desirable: Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN needs What Teaching Personnel Can Offer Long-term, full-time opportunities across a range of specialist settings Ongoing support from a dedicated and knowledgeable recruitment team Competitive rates of pay with weekly payments Access to training and professional development opportunities The opportunity to make a genuine and lasting impact on young people’s lives Apply Today If you are passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs and want to make a meaningful difference, we would love to hear from you.
