Speech and Language Therapist - Wandsworth Location: London (Wandsworth) Working Pattern: On-site Contract Type: Temp / Ad-Hoc Hours: 32 Hours DT / 24 Hours InDT We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to support a Local Authority in Wandsworth. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality, specialist communication assessments for children undergoing Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs). You will produce outcome‑driven EHCP advice and collaborate closely with families, educational settings, the SEN Assessment Team, and multi‑agency professionals to contribute to robust, child‑centred decision-making. Key Responsibilities Conduct statutory paediatric communication assessments for children referred for EHCNAs, ensuring assessments are thorough, evidence-based, and aligned with SEND Code of Practice requirements. Provide clear, detailed, and measurable EHCP advice, including recommendations that reflect functional communication needs and required therapy provision. Work collaboratively with schools, families, BCIT, SEN Officers, and wider Local Authority teams to ensure coordinated support. Contribute to annual reviews and provide professional input where complex communication needs or placement changes are under consideration. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical records, ensuring full compliance with safeguarding policies, GDPR standards, and professional documentation expectations. Provide specialist guidance to support planning for children with a range of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) across early years and school-age settings.Requirements BSc/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy HCPC registration - essential. Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience in paediatric Speech and Language Therapy. Proven experience supporting children with SEND, including contributing to or drafting statutory EHCP content. Strong skills in assessment, clinical reasoning, report writing, and delivering professional advice. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. Up‑to‑date professional indemnity and public liability insurance.Desirable Skills & Experience RCSLT membership. Experience working within early years, mainstream schools, or specialist education settings. Knowledge of key clinical areas such as: Autism Spectrum Condition Developmental Language Disorder Speech Sound Disorders AAC approaches Experience providing training or workshops for school staff, families, or multidisciplinary teams.Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business/education recruitment agency for this vacancy.
