Operating in Stratospace, Zephyr supports global connectivity, environmental monitoring, disaster response, and more.As part of this mission, you'll join a passionate, highly skilled team dedicated to pushing boundaries and unlocking the full potential of this cutting-edge technology.The OpportunityWe're looking for an Avionics Technician to support the manufacture, assembly, and testing of the Zephyr aircraft. You'll work hands-on with advanced avionics hardware, helping ensure the safe, efficient and timely delivery of aircraft to meet AALTO's operational requirements.This role suits someone who thrives in a technical environment, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to contribute to a truly unique aerospace programme.What You'll Be Doing • Manufacturing in-house avionics components to exacting standards., • Following engineering drawings, build instructions, and test procedures., • Completing and maintaining accurate build and test records., • Performing dimensional verification using calibrated tools and jigs., • Conducting and recording environmental and functional tests (thermal, pressure, etc.)., • Working safely with fragile and high-precision components, including microscope-based assembly., • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and problem-solving with the wider team., • Contributing to clean-room operations and maintaining 6S workplace standards., • Adhering to Health & Safety requirements and escalating risks when needed., • Proven hands-on experience in avionics manufacturing or aviation maintenance., • Ability to solder to a high standard (IPC qualification desirable)., • Experience working in ESD-sensitive and/or clean-room environments., • Strong understanding of test equipment and test procedures., • Ability to read engineering drawings confidently., • Experience assembling avionics hardware using microscopes., • Quality-focused with excellent attention to detail., • Comfortable working to tight production schedules., • Strong communicator with clear written and verbal skills., • Proactive problem-solver who collaborates well in a team setting., • Aerospace, Space, Defence or other highly regulated industry experience., • Familiarity with Lean/6 Sigma methodologies., • Understanding of manufacturing pulse-line approaches., • £23.29 per hour PAYE, • £31.16 per hour Umbrella, • Standard 37-hour working week
