We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Regional Health & Safety Manager (North West, Manchester & Cumbria) to join our field based retail team & for the right candidate we’re offering a very competitive industry salary. You’ll be travelling between our Retail stores in Manchester, up to Carlisle, across to Southport & everywhere in between. This role will play a pivotal role in upholding safety and legality and supporting our Supermarkets. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in Health & Safety, with an understanding of the other disciplines Food Safety, & Trading Standards. Supporting Retail Senior/Regional Management they will relish in a role where they have overall responsibility for Safe & Legal, and will work to ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues as well as legality of our Brand. A typical week in this role looks like… Your home will be your base location but you’ll spend most of your time supporting stores. Mondays are a big report & meeting day where you’ll engage and deliver key updates. You will manage your own diary to ensure business critical activities are managed. Your week will be driven by the business needs and will include visiting 1-2 stores a day supporting improvement plans, attending meetings, building relationships, conducting audits, setting the Safe & Legal culture and upskilling/coaching colleagues & managers. Depending on location these may require you to stay overnight in a hotel. Being one of the Health & Safety experts in the team you’ll support your peers and they will support you in Food Safety & Trading Standards expertise. Role Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive); • Provide a Safe & Legal management service for Retail supermarkets, support in Logistics may be required occasionally., • Proactively attend regional and store meetings, build engagement with the senior teams & share data trends, working with the teams to agree suitable solutions., • Manage/coordinate activity where serious safety or legality concerns have been identified and work with stores and sites to demonstrably improve standards, • Work with stakeholders to manage Enforcement activity, arrange for any necessary support, disseminate information and liaise with Enforcement Officers to reach a satisfactory conclusion, • Provide a reactive service for serious food safety, trading standards and health & safety issues and incidents, • Oversee fire safety standards throughout region including undertaking fire and temp FRA risk assessments (training will be provided)., • Support the central teams by providing timely information and advice, • Use a partnership approach in order to coach Regional Managers, Store/Site Managers and colleagues in the required safe and legal standards/ general good practice, • Build strong relationships with the retail management teams in order to be recognised as the main point of contact for all technical queries, • Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Pest Controller) to effectively promote safety and legality About You We’ve built an incredibly diverse business, and we’re working hard to make sure we truly represent the communities we serve. For this role, we’re looking for someone who has: • NEBOSH diploma / Member of relevant professional organisation and undergoing CPD, • Post graduate experience, • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Safety & Trading Standards legislation., • Auditing experience in Health & Safety, • Understanding of HACCP, • In-depth knowledge and understanding of catering, retail or manufacturing in Health & safety, knowledge of Food Safety & trading Standards., • An appreciation of the microbiological safety and quality aspects of high risk products, • A good understanding of health & safety, food safety, trading standards quality / management systems, • Knowledge of Retail end to end operations, • Customer focussed with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude, • Great communicator & reporting / data manipulating skills About Us Our modern Head Office on the edge of Bradford is home to our different support teams from tech, marketing and finance to HR, trading and supply chain. The role reports to the Balance Sheet Reporting & Control Manager- as part of the wider Group finance team. You would have coaching responsibilities for 2 team members. This currently would be an assistant accountant and a graduate. Responsibilities: • Prepare monthly balance sheets and management accounts, providing commentary on significant movements and variances., • Establish, monitor, and improve internal controls over financial processes to safeguard the Group's financial integrity., • Oversee the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded, filed, and reported accurately., • Business partnering with teams to obtain key information for financial control meetings, • Analyse financial data to identify trends and variances, and provide insights into their causes., • Support the team with technical expertise relating to project-based accounting, • Implement improvements of finance processes and reporting, • Take a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring risks and issues are identified, addressed and reported and, where appropriate, escalated About You Key Skills; • Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA), • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences., • The confidence & ability to challenge non-finance stakeholders to deliver the right end-results, • Resilience and the ability to adapt in an ever changing environment, • Strong ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, to work collaboratively to achieve objectives., • Strong ability to work flexibly - managing changing and competing priorities and absorbing new information rapidly to address complex issues., • Takes ownership and uses initiative to solve problems, • Pro-active individual with a can-do attitude About Us Our modern Head Office on the edge of Bradford is home to our different support teams from tech, marketing and finance to HR, trading and supply chain.
