Currie & Brown is looking for a chartered building surveyor / senior building surveyor to join our Birmingham, Bristol and Exeter office. The successful candidate will be part of a team of building surveyors covering all aspects of professional and project-related building surveying across the private and public sector. The successful candidate will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider. Working in this role will involve assisting in the management of client and project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time to a wide range of clients. The role will cover the full spectrum of building surveying services, including design and specification, clerk of works, contract administration, building surveys and dilapidations. Our building surveying team has a broad-based background, is a highly motivated group with varying levels and types of experience and is the ideal place for you to commence and progress your career in the profession with many opportunities to learn from the team and our commissions. As a building surveyor your core duties will involve: • Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments from inception to completion, • Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects and liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control, • Assist with the managing of client/project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time, • Visit sites to undertake surveys, visit construction sites, meet with sub-contractors, contractors, clients and other staff as required to deliver projects., • Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner, • BSc in building surveying or equivalent, • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) beneficial, • Good technical writing and communication skills (both internal and external), • Proficient skills in the use of AutoCAD and NBS beneficial, • Experience in the higher education, local government and healthcare sectors beneficial, • Significant exposure to, and good working relations with, private and public sector clients beneficial, • Well-developed skills in the areas of surveys, project management, clerk of works, repairs and maintenance beneficial, • Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute, • A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, • Outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible when speaking to colleagues and clients alike

Senior / Principal Structural Engineer Senior / Principal Ground Engineer We are working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy looking to appoint both a Structural Engineer and a Ground Engineer. These roles offer the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects across the commercial, residential, and public sectors within a collaborative and growing team. Senior / Principal Structural Engineer The Role Design and detailing of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures Structural alterations, refurbishments, retaining walls, and basements Assessing existing structures for condition, suitability, and reuse Coordinating designs with architectural and M&E layouts Preparing and reviewing structural reports, assessments, and surveys Ensuring compliance with Eurocodes and British Standards Supporting fee proposals and tender submissions Attending site visits, inspections, and client meetings Senior / Principal Ground Engineer The Role Design of geo-structural solutions including soil nails, rock anchors, sheet piles, secant piles, and foundations Temporary works, earth retention, excavation support systems, and ground improvement schemes Interpreting ground investigations and assessing geotechnical risk Preparing Desk Studies, Interpretative Reports, and Geotechnical Design Reports Ensuring compliance with EC7, CD622, Eurocodes, and British Standards Supporting tender documentation and fee proposals Attending site visits, inspections, and monitoring works About You (Both Roles) Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (geotechnical modules for Ground role) Ideally Chartered, or working towards 3-5+ years' relevant design experience Strong technical reporting and communication skills Experience with industry-standard design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, MasterSeries, SCIA, Civil 3D, etc.) Able to work independently or as part of a team Committed to ongoing professional development Full UK driving licence What's on Offer: 37.5 hours/week (flexible/part-time considered) 28 days holiday + bank holidays Company pension Ongoing training, mentoring, and support towards professional accreditation Clear career progression within a supportive team environmentWe recognise that many engineers develop experience across both structural and geotechnical disciplines.
