Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services 📍 Location: Redhill, Surrey 💼 Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent 💰 Salary: £58,000 – £65,000 (DOE) + Benefits Company Overview We are a leading multidisciplinary building services consultancy with a strong presence across the South East. Due to a healthy project pipeline and ongoing growth, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Surrey-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, residential, and education. Role Overview As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept to completion. You’ll be responsible for technical output, client interaction, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring high-quality and compliant electrical system design. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design of electrical systems including LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security, ICT, and access control systems., • Produce detailed electrical calculations using tools such as Amtech (Trimble), Dialux/Relux, and Excel., • Prepare technical specifications, equipment schedules, and reports using NBS or equivalent., • Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines., • Contribute to and review Revit and AutoCAD models with BIM teams., • Attend project and client meetings, carry out site surveys, inspections, and snagging., • Ensure designs comply with BS7671, Building Regulations, and other applicable standards., • Manage project delivery against agreed timescales and budgets., • Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to team development., • Drive sustainability initiatives within designs, considering low carbon and energy efficiency strategies. Key Requirements • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related field., • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status via CIBSE or IET (or working towards)., • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in electrical design within the UK building services industry., • Proficient in Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD, and Revit., • Strong understanding of UK building regulations, IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671), and CIBSE guidelines., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently., • Client-facing experience and confidence in leading design meetings., • Full UK driving licence (desirable for site visits).
