This Cost Accountant position is 100% onsite at our Bohemia, NY location. This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License. Position Summary: The Cost Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the company’s manufacturing facilities by analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring the integrity of cost standards. This position is responsible for monitoring manufacturing performance through detailed cost analysis, preparing regular financial reports, and evaluating variances to identify root causes and improvement opportunities. The role oversees key processes such as monthly inventory reconciliation, daily cycle counts, standard cost updates, overhead rate management, and purchase price variance review. Working closely with manufacturing and cross-functional teams, the Cost Accountant provides insightful financial guidance, supports decision-making, and helps drive operational efficiency across the organization. Key Position Accountabilities: • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of inventory and providing meaningful analysis behind variances between the Perpetual Inventory Report and General Ledger, • Manages preparation and execution of quarterly/annual standard cost update, • Oversees and audits cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, researches discrepancies, and reports monthly progress towards the annual cycle count plan, • Reviews and analyzes PPV monthly. Responsible for making decisions on whether or not the Standard Cost should be updated, • Establishes and monitors overhead rates. Responsible for providing insight as to how rates are trending as well as suggesting whether or not they should be updated based on historical or forecasted trends, • Directs development of and reviews cost analysis reports and works with manufacturing department heads to formulate corrective actions, • Provides cost support to cross functional areas as requested, • Updates and distributes costing related to NRE & R&D programs on a monthly basis, • Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations., • Commitment to the Company’s policies, principles, and procedures and adheres to the Company’s, • Procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline/corrective action, and security. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Working knowledge of higher-level functions in Microsoft Office products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint., • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures., • Understanding of financial statements based on US GAAP., • Ability to independently research and analyze various types of data., • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines., • Effective oral and written communication skills. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required., • 5-10 years relevant work experience preferred., • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred., • Any combination of education, training and experience listed above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
