American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a travel nursing job in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: CVICU, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/05/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting within a hospital, • Patient population includes fresh open heart cases, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and those with acute or chronic renal failure, • Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:2, • Required to float to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding, and IMC units as needed, • Night shift (3x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:30, • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with a minimum of 2 out of 3 holidays, • Uses Epic EMR for charting, • Provide direct patient care for acute cardiovascular surgical and medical cases, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers, • Scrub attire is required for the unit, • Holiday and weekend rotation is mandatory, • Environment supports advanced cardiovascular intervention and recovery\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration, • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience required, • CVICU experience with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required, • Experience required with devices including Impella, IABP, CRRT using Prismaflex, Swan, FloTrac, Temp Pacers, A-lines, and ventilators, • Ability to assist with BiPAP, CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal, and conduct 12 lead EKGs, • May consider candidates with SICU experience who received initial training in a CVICU, • Must not have been employed by the specified health system within the past year\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
