Job Description Job Title: Auto Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on performing basic electrical and mechanical maintenance while learning how to detail and support FDNY ambulances. You will use hand tools, multimeters, and troubleshooting techniques to help ensure vehicles and equipment operate safely and reliably. Responsibilities • Perform basic electrical maintenance tasks using multimeters and hand tools., • Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues on vehicles and related equipment., • Support preventive maintenance activities on mechanical and electrical systems., • Learn and apply proper procedures for detailing FDNY ambulances under guidance., • Use hand tools and basic mechanical skills to support maintenance and repair work., • Work with hydraulic components as needed under supervision., • Follow established safety procedures and maintenance standards while performing all tasks., • Document work performed as directed and communicate any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills • Basic electrical experience, including working safely with electrical components., • Ability to use a multimeter for testing and troubleshooting., • Hands-on experience with hand tools for maintenance and repair tasks., • Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems., • Willingness and ability to learn how to detail FDNY ambulances., • Basic troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving maintenance issues., • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices for mechanical or electrical systems., • Exposure to hydraulics or willingness to learn hydraulic system basics., • Strong attention to detail when working on vehicles and equipment., • Dependable work habits and a proactive approach to learning new tasks. Work Environment This position is based in Woodland Park, NJ, in a maintenance and vehicle detailing setting that involves working with FDNY ambulances and related equipment. The role follows a first-shift schedule, with typical hours of either 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will work with electrical testing tools such as multimeters, a variety of hand tools, and mechanical and hydraulic components in a shop environment where safety procedures and proper tool use are essential.A Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodland Park, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
