An global food distributor in the Elizabeth, NJ area is seeking a DOT Compliance & Safety Supervisor to oversee transportation safety and regulatory compliance for company-operated vehicles. This role ensures adherence to DOT, FMCSA, and other relevant transportation laws while supporting driver qualification, safety monitoring, and compliance training programs. The position reports to the Branch Manager and collaborates closely with regional offices to maintain a high standard of safety and operational excellence. *This is a full-time, direct-hire, exempt position with benefit package. Responsibilities of DOT Compliance & Safety Supervisor: • Ensure commercial drivers meet all FMCSA qualification requirements and maintain complete documentation, • Oversee onboarding processes, including background checks, drug screening, and license verification, • Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records for accuracy and compliance, • Administer FMCSA drug and alcohol testing programs, including scheduling and reporting, • Utilize Motive (formerly KeepTruckin) to monitor vehicle performance, safety scores, and violations, • Conduct driver onboarding and ongoing training on DOT regulations, company policies, and delivery protocols, • Investigate accidents or safety incidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions, • Coordinate with regional offices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation and environmental regulations Requirements of DOT Compliance & Safety Supervisor: • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred, • In-depth knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations; familiarity with OSHA and food safety standards is a plus, • Prior experience in transportation safety, compliance, or a DOT-regulated environment, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and lead drivers, • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage documentation and compliance processes, • Ability and willingness to travel to regional locations for training and audits, • Certification or interest in becoming certified as a PACE behavioral driving trainer, • Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.
