Role Overview The Associate Director, Strategy is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving integrated marketing strategy across key client accounts while elevating the quality, consistency, and impact of Indie’s strategy offering. This role sits at the center of our client service model, ensuring that strategy is not just developed, but embedded across creative, activation, and performance workflows. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, a leader to internal teams, and a key partner in shaping how Indie scales its strategy capabilities. You will own the strategic direction of accounts, guide cross-functional teams, and help translate business objectives into clear, actionable marketing plans that drive measurable growth. This role is ideal for someone who can operate at both a strategic and operational level: setting direction, driving alignment, and leading strategy projects with clarity, consistency, and impact. Requirements: Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Client Impact: Lead integrated marketing strategy across accounts, serving as a trusted advisor who turns complexity into clarity. • Serve as a senior strategic partner to client stakeholders, building trust through clear perspective, confident leadership, and consistent delivery of business impact, • Translate complex business challenges into focused, actionable direction that guides cross-functional teams across channels and disciplines, • Own the strategic health and trajectory of accounts, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and paths for growth, • Drive alignment across teams to ensure strategy is consistently reflected in creative output, activation plans, and performance decisions, • Lead cross-functional integration across strategy, creative, and activation to ensure all work ladders to a unified vision, • Embed strategy into day-to-day workflows, ensuring alignment from planning through execution and reporting, • Mentor and develop team members, strengthening strategic thinking, ownership, and client leadership skills, • Drive clarity in roles, responsibilities, and decision-making to improve efficiency and reduce friction across teams, • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies, including generative AI, agentic workflows, and creative AI, to increase team efficiency and output, • Identify opportunities to integrate AI into strategy, insights, reporting, and operational workflows, • Lead test-and-learn initiatives to evaluate new tools and define best practices for team adoption, • Enable the team to work smarter and faster by embedding AI into everyday processes without sacrificing strategic quality, • Lead the generation of audience, cultural, competitive, and performance insights that inform integrated strategy and creative direction, • Establish clear learning agendas and ensure insights are consistently applied across planning, concepting, and activation, • Own the interpretation of performance data across channels, translating results into clear implications and actionable recommendations, • Ensure reporting answers what happened, why it matters, and what we do next, driving continuous optimization across teams, • 7–10 years of experience in marketing strategy, consulting, or integrated marketing, ideally within an agency or consultancy environment, • Demonstrated success leading integrated marketing strategies across brand, creative, and/or performance channels, with clear impact on business outcomes, • Strong understanding of modern marketing ecosystems, including paid media, CRM, ecommerce, SEO, and emerging technologies such as AI and automation, • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, providing clear direction, feedback, and mentorship while fostering strategic thinking and accountability, • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complexity, drive alignment, and inspire action across clients and internal teams, • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and make sound, business-driven decisions with confidence, • Strong client leadership skills, with the ability to build trust, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and guide strategic conversations, • Curiosity and comfort with emerging technologies, with a willingness to test, adopt, and integrate AI into workflows and strategic output, • Lead and grow a talented strategy team making a real impact for top brands., • Collaborate across creative, media, and activation to shape end-to-end client solutions., • Collaborate with a talented and passionate team. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. Location: This role is based in New York, NY with a hybrid schedule of three in-office days (T-TH) and two remote days (M-F) each week. Salary Description: $120,000- $135,000+ benefits & bonus eligibility
