• Job Type: Officer of Administration, • Hours Per Week: 40, • Standard Work Schedule: Core business hours Monday-Friday, schedules vary, • Building: New York, NY This working ambulatory nursing role serves as a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for nursing practice oversight by organizing and leading the delivery of nursing care for assigned ColumbiaDoctors locations. Responsibilities includes analyzing clinical practice and identifying opportunities to increase quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency; working with operational leadership to identify clinical indicators to measure, evaluate, and improve care; maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local clinical policies, procedures, and regulations; supervision of registered nurses who deliver nursing care; and clinical competency education and testing oversight for CMA and other clinical support roles. The position leads continuous quality improvement projects and population health initiatives in collaboration with medical and operational leadership. The working Nurse Manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in the organization to advance population health, care coordination, clinical initiatives, and nursing staff performance, and to deliver practice experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and work culture for staff. As a working manager role, the incumbent will also directly assist physicians with patient care, health education/promotion, electronic medical record (EMR) chart management, coordination of patient care, and clinical protocols as needed. Responsibilities Administrative Operations • Accountable for working collaboratively with providers, administrative and clinical managers, and staff to ensure the achievement of practice-wide clinical goals/metrics. Supports all strategies in the area/functions assigned, ensuring organizational guidelines and policies are standardized across all clinical sites., • Implements policies, procedures, and workflows related to nursing care, infection control, regulatory compliance, and clinical issues across the organization., • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and implements performance improvement initiatives related to nursing practice. Continuously seeks and implements operational improvements in clinical flow. Utilizes electronic medical record dashboards and reports to monitor KPIs of relevant clinical and quality workflows to ensure a holistic view of the practices' clinical operations., • Maintains effective nursing staff coverage within the approved budget. Collaborates with nursing and operational leadership to propose and justify incremental requests as needed., • Executes clinical practice optimization and improvement strategies and utilizes a data-driven methodology to monitor progress., • Assesses and collects data related to patient health status and inputs this medical information into the EMR as instructed by the physician., • Works with the care team to develop the plan and care across the continuum (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, home, skilled nursing facility, schools), which includes assisting with medication management (e.g., medication renewals), inclusive of medical prior authorizations as needed. Administer immunizations and medications., • Executes nursing interventions by collaborating with the care team and following standards of care established by the unit/department., • Assumes responsibility and accountability for effectively managing nursing care of individual patients, • Supports ongoing clinical functions of the service to provide compassionate patient-centered care., • Handles telephone, My Chart, and in-person triage (for symptom management) as well as patient education., • Assist with the management of urgent and emergent patient situations., • Coordinates multidisciplinary health care services and arranges diagnostic tests (i.e., lab, x-ray) as ordered by physicians and performs diagnostic testing, therapeutic, and interventional procedures as needed., • Reviews and acts on test results (lab, x-ray), • Reviews and manages communications from internal and external "customers," including in-basket messages, updating immunizations, and updating health maintenance items., • Provides coverage for assigned service line within licensure, scope of practice, and training as appropriate, • Executes implementation of organizational strategies for clinical staff., • Develops clinical competencies for clinical staff at all levels and plans for implementation and ongoing assessment to ensure clinical support staff can perform their duties effectively, safely, and to the standard of care appropriate to their scope of practice., • Collaborates with medical leadership to develop and implement clinical triage protocols., • Contributes to CUIMC population health and care coordination initiatives., • Prepares and delivers reports to administrative and medical leadership outlining progress towards meeting goals and objectives related to clinical programs, quality, safety, and human resource initiatives of the nursing staff., • Participates in the planning and opening of new sites with a focus on clinical staff requirements, clinical staff workflows, selection of clinical equipment used in nursing care, and patient-centered office flow., • Directs oversight of assigned staff, including recruiting and human resource management. Ensures the approved HR strategy is implemented and adhered to. Ensures staff productivity benchmarks and quality measures are achieved. Develops remediation plans as needed. Monitor unit metrics and goals to measure the effectiveness of retention strategies., • Promotes staff professionalism and performance with coaching, training, and feedback. Mentors staff in individual and team accountability, modeling behavior, and demonstrating best practices/techniques. Demonstrates self-development and keeps current on a variety of facilities management topics., • Establishes a culture of coaching and mentoring to facilitate continuous professional development and maintain an efficient patient-centered environment, ensuring accountability, quality patient care, and patient satisfaction. Identifies and mitigates any roadblocks to performance and evaluates the effectiveness of development. Works with HR to develop remediation/action plans., • Supports and implements clinical staff recruitment and retention strategies that support top-of-license clinical performance., • Keeps current on all organizational, regulatory compliance, and patient privacy trainings policies (e.g., infection control, public safety, EH&S, HIPAA, OSHA, etc.) and successfully completes all required trainings., • Serves on relevant committees, task forces, and workgroups within the department. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing., • A minimum of 4 years of related experience., • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered., • Current and unrestricted New York State RN license., • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification., • Must have excellent clinical skills in a high-volume, high-pressure environment., • Candidate must demonstrate strong customer service orientation and the ability to deliver consistent, exceptional service while demonstrating tact, respect, and sensitivity., • Candidate must be organized and be able to manage a demanding workload and moderately complex cases in an accurate and timely., • Demonstrated advanced skills in problem assessment, resolution, and collaborative problem solving in complex and interdisciplinary settings, including advanced proficiency in nursing competencies., • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively, and effectively with professional staff, providers, and organizational stakeholders., • Must be able to create and deliver high-level communication presentations for senior leadership and other organizational stakeholders., • Ability to lead and mentor a team through new and changing situations. Demonstrate a professional and compassionate manner while conveying a positive image of the practice., • Ability to work independently and follow through and handle multiple tasks simultaneously., • Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population, demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations., • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software is required, and an ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs., • Must be a motivated individual with a positive mindset and exceptional work ethic., • Ability to work indoors in an environmentally controlled environment with a degree of dust, noise, odors, etc., without undue discomfort., • Ability to perform sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing for long periods of time., • Travel between clinical sites will be routinely required., • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. Incumbent is expected to perform/assist in emergency care and/or first aid as needed., • Master's degree is preferred., • Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification (AMB-BC) and/or physician practice experience preferred.
