Job Description ACLD is currently looking for a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) The Children’s Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to five in a pre-school. We currently have an opportunity for a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) to join our Bay Shore facility. A SEIT would provide individualized education services to preschool children ages three to five, various settings across Suffolk and Nassau counties, in including preschools, home, or community locations Primary Purpose: The primary goal of Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) is to provide the necessary special education supports to help the child benefit from participation in a community early childhood program. The SEIT will focus on teaching the child to function within the educational setting independently without SEIT support. Requirements • New York State Certification: Students with Disabilities (Birth to grade 2) or SWD All Grades or Special Education Permanent, • Minimum 1-year experience working with preschool aged children with special needs preferred., • Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, squatting, sitting on the floor, and kneeling Additional Knowledge, Skills and Ability • The ability to work independently., • Strong written and oral communication skills, • Must plan and prioritize work effectively, • Professional, dependable and responsible, • Must adhere to strict deadlines for reporting required, • Maintain Professional Boundaries, • Flexible, Professional, dependable and responsible, • Work 1:1 with children, ages 3-5 years, in community and homebased settings, • Maintain positive relationships with parents, teachers, related service providers and supervisors, • Evaluate and assessing the student’s needs, • Utilize positive behavior support strategies, • Adapt teaching methods and providing resources to meet the needs of the student, • Follow all mandates on an IEP, • Plan activities/lessons to target the IEP goals/objectives, • Ongoing assessment and documentation of children’s performance, remediation needs, and progress., • Maintain accurate attendance records for all assigned children, • Work in diverse settings such as student homes, family daycare homes, daycare centers, and/or other community settings., • Complete and submit sessions notes after each session, • Complete quarterly progress reports in a timely manner in concert with municipality and SED requirements, • Complete annual review report(s) in a timely manner in concert with municipality and SED requirements, • Attend CPSE meeting(s) for student(s) as required, • Other duties as assigned.
