A day in the life Picture your morning walk-through of the shop: a dump truck needs panel work, an excavator boom guard requires welding, and a trailer frame is scheduled for sandblasting and rust treatment. You coordinate with maintenance and operations to line up parts, plan the spray booth schedule, and sequence repairs so priority units return to service fast. By day’s end, your meticulous prep, primer, and paint finishing deliver a durable, professional result that extends equipment life and upholds the company’s reputation in civil construction. Role overview As the Heavy Fleet Collision Repair Specialist, you’ll repair and refinish trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. From metalwork and welding to sandblasting, rust remediation, and paint finishing, you’ll own the process end-to-end. You’ll partner closely with maintenance and operations to prioritize the right jobs, maximize uptime and safety, and achieve a consistent, high-quality finish. What you’ll do • Execute body repairs on heavy trucks, trailers, and equipment: dent removal, panel replacement, structural and cosmetic welding., • Prepare surfaces (sand, fill, prime) and apply coatings with spray or brush methods to deliver durable, showroom-quality finishes., • Sandblast frames, components, and panels; treat rust and apply undercoatings to extend service life and prevent future failures., • Repair or replace bumpers, doors, hoods, fenders, and other components; install decals, reflectors, and safety markings to meet compliance standards., • Inspect completed work against quality and safety criteria; document repairs, parts used, and recommended follow-ups., • Maintain an orderly, safe workspace (spray booth, tools, PPE) and follow material safety protocols for paint and flammable substances., • Collaborate with maintenance and operations to set priorities, manage parts inventory, and ensure timely turnaround.What you’ll bringMust-have capabilities, • Proficiency in auto-body repair: metalwork, panel replacement, dent removal, sanding, filling, and priming., • Hands-on skill with welders, grinders, sanders, air tools, and spray equipment; ability to safely mix and apply paint systems., • Sharp eye for finish quality, organization, and accurate process documentation., • Knowledge of safety standards for paint fumes, flammable materials, and PPE., • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).Preferred, • Vocational training/certification in auto body or collision repair, or related trade., • Experience with heavy equipment bodywork (trucks, trailers, excavators, graders)., • Spray-paint system certifications, OSHA training, or similar safety credentials.Proficiencies, • Automotive Repair, • Welding Setups for Production, • Lift Truck Repair & Maintenance, • Vehicle Body Repair, • Vehicle & Fleet WeldingCompensation & benefits, • Competitive pay, • Health benefits, • Medical, Vision, and Life Insurance, • Paid time off and holiday schedule, • Retirement plan, • Tool/boot allowance, safety gear provided, • Paid training and certification support, • Stable, long-term work across diverse heavy-equipment fleets and infrastructure projects, • Career growth and cross-training opportunities within maintenance and operationsRole details, • Experience: Mid-Level (4–7 years)
