Summary: Seeking Manager with at least 2 years DDD Management Experience. Following DDD and PILLAR policies and procedures, and in accordance with expressed preferences and desires of individual residents, administers and supervises operation of a group living facility. The Residence Manager must cooperate with PILLAR, the Office of Licensing, the Division of Developmental Disabilities, and the Department of Human Services in any inspection or investigation. Essential Duties: • Supervising individual medical, activity, financial, and other recordkeeping and insures that required records and reports are completed and submitted according to requirements., • Performing functions of Residential Care Assistant or shift supervisor and supporting individuals in implementation of IHP/ISP or other goals and objectives., • Adhering to standard health precautions and insuring wellbeing of residents by monitoring individual health and following up on medical, dental, and emotional health requirements, communication, social, recreation, and ADL skills, family/community functioning, and financial, training and habilitation needs; may accompany residents to appointments; may administer prescribed and over-the-counter medication., • Maintaining safety and security by making periodic inspections, conducting fire drills according to schedules, enacting safety procedures, and training residents and staff; ensures that licensing standards are always maintained; conducts house meetings for residents and staff meetings for direct care employees., • Hiring, directing, supervising, and training staff; coordinates staff schedules to coverage; conducts staff meetings; counsels and disciplines staff; evaluates staff performance and makes recommendation for compensation, promotion, transfer, or termination., • Developing policies, guidelines and procedures based on experience and need; follows DDD and Pillar policies and procedures as described in Division Circulars, Pillar Policy Manual and Pillar Group Home Policy Manual to respond to and report about emergencies, incidents, operational breakdowns or other individual or systematic concerns in a timely manner; may conduct investigations regarding unusual incidents or issues relating to health, safety, or general welfare of residents., • Taking lead role and participates in annual Licensing; participates in bi-annual Q&A audits and responds to findings with written plans of corrections., • Maintaining ongoing communication with family, case managers and others; participates in case management conferences or other meetings relating to concerns of individuals; interacts with residents’ family members and friends and facilitates communications, coordinates activities with day program staff, professional consultants, representatives of other provider agencies; communicates with DDD staff as delegated by supervisor., • Implementing annual operating budget for the residential facility; monitors and approves all budgetary expenditures; secures and accounts for personal funds of group home residents; assists residents with money management and ensures that individual funds expended as desired., • Supervising upkeep of home in terms of safety, cleanliness, and comfort; coordinates maintenance and repair of home and all equipment; orders and maintains supplies as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: • At least 21 years of age (Insurance Purposes), • Minimum of 3 years' DDD Management experience, • DDD Licensing experience preferred, • High school diploma or GED, • BA/BS degree in Social Service, Rehabilitation, LPN or similar discipline preferred., • Valid driver’s license with 4 points or less always, • 5 years of successful employment working with adults with disabilities, • Experience handling a variety of medical diagnoses and behavioral needs, • Experience conducting doctor appointments with individuals with disabilities, • Ability to successfully complete Pillar trainings in required period and to adhere to DDD policies and procedures., • Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle., • Successful completion of drug screening, criminal history background and TB screening Pillar Care Continuum is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. Job Description Title: Youth Intern Department: NJ Programs & Services Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation Cost Center 58056 Position Type: Entry Level General Purpose: Provide paid summer internships under the grant for DVRS Pre-Employment Transition Services. Program is geared for students currently enrolled in school ages 14 to 21 years of age. The Student Interns will gain work experience at an employer site for up to six weeks during summer 2021. The paid internship will be up to 20 hours per week and student will be paid bi-weekly. Each student intern must commit to participating in work readiness classes prior to internship starting and one day weekly work readiness upon start of internship. The NSO Apprentice will study and train (via DAV’s on-the-job training program) to act as a representative for individual veterans (and their families) pursuing disability claims and other benefits from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and, on occasion, other government entities. Essential Functions: • Acquire and maintain knowledge of all laws and regulations pertaining to veterans benefits through regular review of the Code of Federal Regulations and other publications and, where appropriate, decisions of the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims., • Learn how to conduct detailed interviews of veterans to elicit information so that all potential benefits can be identified., • Review service records and other pertinent data, including medical records, to identify and/or assess validity of claims and potential claims., • Learn to determine whether additional evidence may be needed to support a particular claim; provide advice to veteran concerning same., • Learn to determine the risks and benefits of filing a particular claim., • Learn to assess whether the evidentiary support available for a given claim meets the requirements of 38 CFR § 14.633, which incorporates the rule on “frivolous claims” as adopted by the American Bar Association in Model Rule 3.1., • Practice preparing all submissions required to initiate and advance the claim, including, without limitation, briefs and similar documents analyzing the application of appropriate regulations to the facts of a given case., • Practice monitoring the progress of a claim from submission to resolution, dealing with VA adjudicators as required to advance the claim and keeping the claimant advised of significant developments., • Learn to advise the claimant, where appropriate, of administrative and judicial appeal options for claims denied in whole or part and, when requested, provide the claimant with specific advice concerning likely bases of appeal (if any)., • Practice representing claimants before military and VA hearing panels and boards, presenting evidence and legal argument and, as necessary, examining and cross-examining witnesses., • Learn to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish clientele workload., • Communicate professionally and diplomatically with people inside/outside the organization., • Learn to recruit new DAV members to further support and enhance DAV’s mission of service., • High school diploma (or equivalent)., • Must be found eligible and entitled to receive services through VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service under the established National Memorandum of Agreement containing DAV’s On-The-Job Training Program for National Service Officers except in situations where hiring a non-eligible candidate serves an important DAV business purpose., • Must be a member in good standing of the DAV., • Excellent communication skills., • General knowledge of legal and/or medical terminology preferred., • General understanding of business/administrative procedures and systems such as managing clientele files and records, cash ledgers, and quality customer service is helpful., • A valid motor vehicle driver’s license (other than motorcycle) is preferred., • Physical Demands: Job requires sitting up to eight hours a day and standing up to two to four hours a day.
