Job DescriptionSalary: $22 -24/hr Join Our Team - Jersey City Medical Assistant III Position Overview: The Medical Assistant III is a highly experienced and dependable clinical team member who supports providers and enhances clinical operations with minimal supervision. In addition to performing all standard MA duties, MA III employees demonstrate strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and proficiency in managing more complex visit types, pre-visit planning, and follow-up care. This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant who can anticipate needs, stay organized in fast-paced environments, and help ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience throughout the care cycle. This full-time role requires availability forat least one evening shift per week and one Saturday shift per month. Vanguard offers a $2.00+ per hour shift differential for any hours worked after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and for all weekend hours. Key Responsibilities Clinical Support & Patient Care • Perform all routine clinical duties, including vital signs, history taking, medication reconciliation, and assisting with exams and procedures., • Administer injections and medications as directed by the provider, with strict adherence to protocols and documentation standards., • Confidently perform diagnostic testing (e.g., EKGs, rapid tests, vision screening) and support phlebotomy needs., • Manage and prepare for more complex patient encounters, such as multi-condition visits or chronic disease management appointments., • Complete thorough pre-visit chart prep, including care gap checks, outstanding labs/imaging, and medication review., • Anticipate provider needs and prepare accordingly to minimize disruptions and delays during the clinical encounter., • Accurately capture and document quality metrics (e.g., HEDIS, Medicare Annual Wellness) and screenings in the EMR., • Participate in quality improvement initiatives by flagging gaps and supporting closing strategies., • Act as a reliable point of contact for clinical and administrative team members when questions arise during patient care., • Collaborate effectively across departments to ensure coordinated patient flow and continuity of care., • Deliver clear and compassionate explanations to patients regarding medications, care instructions, and follow-up steps., • Address patient questions or concerns at the point of care, escalating only when appropriate., • Manage prescription refill requests, prior authorizations, and referral workflows independently under provider guidance., • Ensure clinical supply inventory is maintained and exam rooms remain clean, stocked, and ready for use., • Support front office team with scheduling, phone calls, and check-in tasks if needed. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program., • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) required., • Minimum 5years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care or specialty setting., • EMR proficiency required; experience with Athena is a plus., • Demonstrated reliability, independence, and familiarity with population health or chronic disease management. Physical Requirements • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods., • May require light lifting (up to 20 lbs.) for supplies or office materials., • Must have visual and auditory acuity to operate computer systems and phones. Compensation and Benefits The anticipated base hourly rate for this position ranges from $22.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on the role and experience level. Additionally, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and other company-sponsored benefits.
