Job description The New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) seeks a highly motivated, experienced Immigration Attorney for a full-time position with the LGBTQ Law Unit. The LGBTQ Law Unit seeks an experienced fulltime attorney to join our team and advocate for our immigrant clients facing removal. NYLAG’s LGBTQ Law Unit, founded in 2008, exists to protect and expand the rights of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community and to provide services that meet the unique legal needs of low-income LGBTQ New Yorkers. LGBTQ communities, especially those of color, transgender and gender non-conforming individuals and youth, are at greater risk of living in poverty and of being targeted for violence. The LGBTQ Law Unit provides free representation and advice on a wide array of civil legal matters, including legal name and gender marker changes, immigration (including removal defense), family law matters (orders of protection, custody and visitation, divorce, and adoption), housing, employment and public accommodation discrimination, wills and advance directives and access to gender affirming healthcare. We engage with community partners to provide legal services and education outreach in community settings throughout the five boroughs and push forward systemic advocacy efforts to advance LGBTQ rights and protections. The Immigration Attorney will represent LGBTQ+ immigrants on detained and non-detained removal defense and post-order work providing full representation and limited scope assistance. The job requires substantive knowledge and experience with removal defense for asylum-seeking LGBTQ+ immigrants including bond hearings, motions to reopen and motions to stay removal before EOIR and BIA, federal petitions for review, individual merits hearings, BIA appeals, habeas petitions and motions for emergent relief from detention or removal. Candidates will have a proactive ability to solve problems under time pressure, a strong commitment to providing client-centered services for clients experiencing trauma, and an ability to work collaboratively with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and volunteers working on a broad range of legal matters impacting the LGBTQ+ community. Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Behavioral Health Counselor - Asian American Recovery Services is responsible for providing counseling and social services to individuals and groups affected by alcoholism, substance abuse with co-occurring mental health problems. Job Description Position Summary: Hamilton-Madison House (HMH) is the leading provider of behavioral health services for New York City’s Asian community and the second largest provider in the country. HMH serves nearly 1,000 community members through a comprehensive program model that understands and incorporates the strengths of individual cultures and addresses the stigma related to mental illness. Services range from psychological services; personalized recovery-oriented services for individuals with mental illness; recovery programming for addiction in six languages and seven dialects; supportive housing for people with mental health issues; and training and internship opportunities for graduate students in social work, mental health counseling, and psychology. Our team of over 40 full-time and 16 part-time staff speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian. HMH is hiring for a full-time Behavioral Health Clinician responsible for direct clinical work with clients in the outpatient mental health clinic, with a priority focus on those in the CONNECT program. The BH Clinician will also be responsible for coordinating and accessing care for their clients. The CONNECT program is a Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) Demonstration Project to provide rapid access to mental health services in a more flexible and holistic way with the community and the whole person outside the clinic walls and beyond the traditional doctor/therapist-patient interaction. An individual family may be faced with all the following problems: inadequate income, no permanent home, single parent, medical neglect, education failure, under parenting, poor nutrition, substance abuse, history of sexual abuse or domestic violence, unemployment, and mental health problems. The Clinical Support program is an interdisciplinary team of licensed clinicians and support staff, all of whom support families navigating challenges in the areas of mental health, addiction, and IPV. The Clinical Support team works with CPS Teams and/or directly with impacted families to ensure optimal service delivery. The team assists with family engagement approaches, with assessing/screening for the most pressing needs, and with identifying and facilitating connections to relevant resources. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for general oversight and administration of all aspects of programming and will report to the Vice President. The qualified candidate will provide leadership, direction and support to the program’s supervisory staff and their respective clinical teams. The Program Director must possess previous experience in providing services to IPV families and families with substance use disorder histories. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring all the requirements of the program regulations are met, that staff are recruited, trained and properly supervised. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • The Director of Clinical Services position requires an LMSW with 5-10 years of clinical supervisory experience or an LCSW or Licensed Psychologist with 5 years of clinical supervisory experience., • Strong leadership, administrative and supervisory skills with the ability to monitor and implement high volumes of workflows, as well as leading an interdisciplinary team of 21 professionals., • Familiarity with navigating electronic platforms such as Connections for documentation reviews., • Strong working knowledge of mental health, substance use and IPV. The ability guide and direct managerial staff in all 3 areas of practice, providing regular supervision and adherence to best practices., • As with all Child Welfare related positions, this role will require a robust background check, and a clean driving record is encouraged. Job Description Position: Client Care Coordinator Reports to: Director of Social Services Classification: Exempt GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: The Client Care Coordinator is responsible for improving access to mental health services in the shelter and for assisting families that are homeless with navigating multiple systems and coping with the stressors and anxiety induced by the homelessness.
