Position Summary The Heavy Haul Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of oversized and overweight loads. This role requires specialized knowledge of equipment, route planning, permits, and securement to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Key Responsibilities • Safely operate tractor-trailers hauling oversized/overweight loads, • Load, secure, and transport freight using chains, binders, straps, and other securement devices, • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, • Plan and follow routes based on permit requirements and restrictions, • Coordinate with dispatch, escorts, and customers to ensure smooth delivery, • Comply with all DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies, • Maintain accurate logs (ELDs), permits, and required documentation, • Monitor load conditions during transit and make adjustments as needed, • Communicate delays, issues, or safety concerns in a timely manner, • Assist with loading/unloading when required Requirements • Valid CDL Class A license, • Minimum 2–5 years of heavy haul or oversize experience (preferred), • Strong knowledge of:, • Load securement practices, • Oversize/overweight permitting, • Route surveys and restrictions, • Ability to operate specialized trailers (RGN, step deck, lowboy, etc.), • Clean driving record and ability to pass:, • DOT physical, • Drug & alcohol screening, • Ability to travel long distances and stay out overnight or extended periods, • Strong problem-solving and communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with multi-axle trailers and extreme loads, • Familiarity with pilot car/escort coordination, • TWIC card (if working ports), • Basic mechanical knowledge Physical Requirements • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, • Climb on/off trailers and equipment, • Work in various weather and job site conditions, • Extended periods of sitting, driving, and securing loads Compensation & Benefits • Competitive pay (salary plus per diem or day rate plus per diem), • Overtime opportunities, • Health, dental, and vision insurance, • Paid time off and holidays, • Retirement plan (401k), • Safety and performance bonuses Work Environment • Combination of highway driving, job sites, ports, and industrial locations, • Requires strict adherence to safety protocols and timelines
