If you're driven, detail-oriented, and ready to grow with an elite organization, we want to meet you. *Sign-On Bonus Available – Amount Based on Experience and Certification Level Job Summary: The Critical Care Transport Paramedic will demonstrate advanced critical thinking capabilities in working autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers in the delivery of care to critically ill patients in diverse and non-traditional settings. This position provides leadership, acts as a knowledge expert and resource, and implements and/or supports special clinical projects and assignments. Job Description: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the following age groups: neonatal (0-29 days) not requiring an isolette, pediatric, and adult. All ground transport medical crew members may be subject to certain work conditions while functioning in the full capacity of their position. These work conditions include but are not limited to: • Performance of essential job responsibilities in a moving ground ambulance as well as the potential to do so in an outdoor environment (inclement weather, extremes of temperature, etc.), • Exposure to noise, vibration of ground ambulance, • Exposure to patients with known or unknown infectious disease in an enclosed space, • Operate the transport equipment (within scope of practice) effectively, • Check functioning and safety of all equipment, • Uses supplies efficiently and replaces supplies when needed and/or after each call, • Cleans front and back of ambulance after each call and/or before ending shift, • Completes patient care reports correctly and in a timely manner as educated and directed according to AMT standard practice, • Provides leadership, acts as a knowledge expert and resource, and implements and/or supports special clinical projects and assignments., • Provides care based on review and analysis of patient information received from referring health care providers, the patient record, and initial and ongoing assessment of physical findings., • Demonstrates effective, independent critical thinking process and autonomous and collaborative practice in the provision of patient care., • Selects and administers the appropriate medications and calculates correct dosage based on physical findings, knowledge base, and patient care guidelines., • Demonstrates proficiency in use of specialty team equipment in the transport environment., • Communicates in an effective and timely manner with team members, communication specialists, control physicians, referring and receiving health care personnel, and patient/family members. Coordinates and effectively communicates decision making process and plan for patient care with team members and other health care providers, where possible and appropriate., • Ensures that patient care environment, equipment and supplies are available, clean and function appropriately. Maintains a safe environment for self, team members, and patients., • Evaluates transports according to Quality Management criteria and guidelines as defined by service. Current Idaho Paramedic license or plan to complete prior to start date - and - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers - and - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - and - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - and - Current valid/unrestricted driver's license in state of residence - and - Three years of experience as a 911 responder • and - • Must be able to communicate effectively and able to follow written and verbal directions, • Able to transfer and position patients independently and safely, • Understands position may require exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, radiation, and other conditions, • Able to work irregular hours under high stress conditions, • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and others that require the Paramedic to verbally communicate, as well as hear, and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations Preferred Qualifications: • Five years of experience as a 911 responder, • Experience with intensive care transports, • Advanced certification as Flight Paramedic (FP-C) or Critical Care Transport Paramedic (CCTP), • (must obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain throughout employment) Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies - and - Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. - and - Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. - and - Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. - and - Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). - and - May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period. - and - Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment. Shift: Day, night, weekends, holidays (possible) 12hr, 24 hr Full Time, Part Time, As Needed (PRN) available Wage: Competitive pay, comprehensive benefits. Dependent on experience.
