Business Development Manager – CPG \n \n Position Overview \n Douglas Sales Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organized Business Development Manager to join our team. \n \n This individual will manage multiple vendor partners and customer accounts throughout the NY Metro market. The role will oversee vendor business from start to finish, including customer relationships, sales growth, new item presentations, promotional planning, pricing, contract execution, and ongoing account management. \n \n The Business Development Manager will work directly with leading and emerging CPG brands while building relationships with key retail and wholesale customers. Assigned accounts will include Wakefern, Key Food, Allegiance Retail Services, King Kullen, Nassau Candy, Associated, and other customers throughout the market. \n \n The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of vendors, projects, deadlines, and customer requests in a fast-paced environment. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Manage multiple vendor partners and serve as their primary point of contact across assigned customer accounts.\n, • Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, category managers, distributors, and other key decision-makers.\n, • Develop and execute vendor and account-specific strategies to increase sales, distribution, and overall market presence.\n, • Identify growth opportunities and present new items, promotional programs, and business initiatives to customers.\n, • Manage new item submissions, pricing, contracts, product information, samples, presentations, and customer follow-up.\n, • Develop and coordinate promotional and marketing programs within approved financial guidelines.\n, • Monitor sales, distribution, pricing, promotional performance, competitive activity, and other market data to identify opportunities and provide recommendations.\n, • Maintain frequent communication with vendor partners regarding business performance, customer activity, opportunities, and potential challenges.\n, • Coordinate with internal sales, administrative, customer service, and retail teams to ensure projects and commitments are completed accurately and on time.\n, • Assist with purchase orders, inventory issues, deductions, pricing discrepancies, and customer service matters as needed.\n, • Prepare for and attend customer meetings, category reviews, trade shows, and industry events.\n, • Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.\n\n \n Qualifications \n\n • 3–5 years of relevant CPG, food brokerage, grocery retail, or food wholesale/distribution industry experience is required, preferably in business development, account management, sales, buying, or category management.\n, • Experience working with grocery retailers, wholesalers, distributors, or consumer brands, with prior experience supporting Wakefern, Key Food, Allegiance Retail Services, Nassau Candy, or similar NY Metro customers preferred.\n, • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.\n, • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple vendors, accounts, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.\n, • Proactive, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.\n, • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate customer portals, retailer systems, data platforms, and other business applications.\n, • Ability to regularly travel throughout the NY Metro market for customer headquarters calls, meetings, and account visits, along with periodic in-office time at our Piscataway, NJ office.\n\n \n Benefits \n\n • Employer-sponsored health insurance\n, • 401(k) with company match\n, • Auto allowance\n, • Gas allowance\n, • Paid Time Off\n, • Paid holidays\n, • Hybrid/work-from-home flexibility\n\n
