The Technician or Mechanic is not only responsible for understanding maintenance and breakdown needs and initiating/assigning necessary repairs, but also must be able to operate the machinery being repaired. At times, the Technician may be on call and required to assist with emergency breakdowns. Description We are seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer who will manage a collaborative and dynamic team working in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems involved with electric transmission. The successful candidate will serve as a Lead Engineer and Technical Project Manager on high voltage electric transmission line design projects of overhead and underground systems for some of the largest utilities in the country as well as regional utilities. The candidate will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, NEC, and other applicable standards in the engineering and design of all types of capital and maintenance projects from 34.5 kV to 765 kV. Additionally, the candidate will direct a team of engineers that regularly perform engineering analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, foundation design using MFAD and/or LPILE, design structure framing and hardware assemblies, draft plans and specifications, and prepare bill of materials and procurement documents across project planning, engineering, environmental, permitting, and construction management phases. This position provides an opportunity for an experienced HVAC technician with at least seven (7) years' relevant experience to work with a dedicated facilities group, deepen his/her technical skills, and help ensure that Uncommon provides well-maintained, comfortable, and safe educational facilities for our students and staff. Uncommon’s portfolio in New Jersey comprises buildings constructed from the very early 1900s through the early 2020s, operating HVAC systems dating from 1966 to the recent past few years. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Management Team, the HVAC Service Technician will perform all technical work necessary to inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC system in our buildings. With expertise in HVAC – and to a lesser extent in construction and plumbing – in multi-family, schools, and commercial buildings, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting minor HVAC projects and managing larger ones and ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The HVAC Service Tech will partner with senior Facilities team members and outside consultants on the planning, coordination, and supervision of mechanical construction and repair activities implemented by outside vendors, will ensure project timelines are met and ensure quality control standards are followed, mentor junior staff, and handle all HVAC-related communication with stakeholders. We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Hygiene Technician to participate in asbestos, lead, mold and universal waste project related assignments in the New York metro area.What you'll do • Performing air monitoring for asbestos abatement, lead and mold remediation activities, • Investigating indoor air quality and related water intrusion events, • Conducting job site health & safety inspections, • Performing routine site inspections, collecting bulk samples and creating reports according to applicable State and Federal protocols, • Develop reports, memos, addendums as required for project management review, to document site conditions and project-related issues, • Interacting with management, contractors & sub-contractors, coordinating site meetings, developing scopes of work and implementing project schedules, as assignedMinimum Qualifications, • High School diploma required, • Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred in performing asbestos, lead paint, IAQ, water intrusion/mold, general industrial hygiene, and facility-related abatement project monitoring and inspections., • Good oral and written communication skills., • A combination of the following certifications:, • EPA AHERA / NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector, Project Designer, Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician, NYSDOL Mold Assessor, NJ/EPA/NY Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector and/or NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator., • Working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.), • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, lead paint, etc., • Must be willing to travel to and from job sites within the NY area, • Must be able to pass a physical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator, • Must be available to occasionally work night or weekend hours may and/or extended shifts beyond 8 hours, • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT-regulated random drug & alcohol testingPreferred Qualifications, • AS or BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields preferred, but not required, • Additional asbestos accreditations preferred: Management Planner /Supervisor/Project Designer, • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, • Experience performing other IH-related work and non-IH environmental work, • Experience performing health and safety oversight, • Experience in construction managementAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.

This individual will also provide technical and design services in support of civil engineering projects reporting directly to their project manager. Applicant must be able to communicate and coordinate technical evaluations and designs, produce reports in technical writing format, and correspond with other team members to complete work in a timely and efficient manner. Must have the ability to coordinate project submittals, facilitate regulatory agency approvals, and obtain construction permits. Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Professional Engineering License Required Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office required. Hydraflow Storm Sewer, Hydrograph, and WaterCad preferred. Must have strong communication and writing skills. Experience with design of land development projects preferred.
