The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), integrated re-entry services that includes alternatives to incarceration, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city. Furthermore, CHS has been engaged in an effort to better identify people with neurodevelopmental/neurocognitive disorders and to utilize psychological testing to connect people to services in the community (e.g., with OPWDD). Responsibilities: Under the supervision of a Senior/Supervising Psychiatrist in the Mental Health Service of CHS, this position requires the provision of high quality, team-based psychiatric services including psychopharmacologic interventions, for individuals incarcerated in the New York City jail system. Each of the facilities in the jail system has unique patient population and environmental characteristics; each psychiatrist will be matched with the population that most closely meets their clinical expertise, desired work location and schedule and the clinical needs of the service. Experience working in correctional settings is not required, however the ability to work closely and effectively with multiple other disciplines, including security staff, is critical. Job Description Director of Horticulture About This Opportunity Queens Botanical Garden is seeking an experienced and mission-aligned leader for the newly created position of Director of Horticulture. They will lead all horticultural and sustainable agriculture initiatives and operations, and work with the Executive Director, Supervisor of Gardeners, and other key staff and board members to develop a vision and plan for the Garden’s future as it continues to grow and develop with the highest standards for environmental sustainability. They will also support the integration of horticulture with the work of the rest of the organization, including day-to-day operations and programming of our active public space. As an innovative institution that adopted environmental sustainability, climate mitigation, and green operations back in 2001 in its Master Plan, QBG is at an exciting and critical juncture. Within the next two – three years, the Garden will be completing construction of its state of the art LEED platinum certified Education Center, outdoor Pavilion, and Kids Culture/Discovery Garden, all of which will feature new gardens and collections. Also planned are a renovation of the Rose Garden, a new Welcome Garden near the North Gate entrance, and an Environmental Sustainability Quad that will serve as space to train the public in organic horticultural practices, composting, and green operations, and host volunteer opportunities. Job Description JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Program Director/designee, functions as part of a team assigned to support consumers living in independent apartments in the community. Assists assigned individuals in developing and maintaining viable living, working and social situations in the community by obtaining needed medical, social, psychosocial, educational, financial, vocational and other services. Participates in the provision of crisis intervention services to participants. Travels to/visits consumers' residences or apartments to provide counsel and assistance and to help the consumers, within their capabilities and interests, in maintaining the greatest degree of independent living. The majority of duties are often performed independently under general supervision. Travels to/visits consumers' residences to provide supportive services on a schedule established by the program. Maintains up-to-date, accurate individual case records on each assigned consumer and develops measurable and objective service plans that maximize consumer rehabilitative abilities in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Ensures that plans include consideration of the consumer's cultural and ethnic background, customs, needs, beliefs and primary language., 4. Provides supportive counseling in 1 :1 or group formats that assist the consumer to modify attitudes and behaviors as needed., 5. Obtains and develops resource information for consumers in all aspects of their care; disseminates this information to consumers in a manner that is clear and understandable., 7. Facilitates individualized services to the consumer that meet the diverse needs of the consumer and focus on-the discharge-planning goal., 8. Explains the types of clinical services, recreational activities, and ICL programs available to consumers; instructs the consumer in daily living skills, socialization skill enhancement and conflict resolution., 9. Performs crisis assessment and nonverbal and verbal crisis intervention., 10. Refers consumers to community resources and other organizations.
