Job Description RN Unit Manager - Young Adults Unit Full Time | Day Shift Pay Range $55.39-$63.59/hr (based on experience) St. Margaret's Center, an affiliate of Center for Disability Services, is a pediatric and young adult 94-bed skilled nursing facility, located in Albany, NY. Learn more about St. Margaret's Center here: What Makes St. Margaret's a Great Place to Work? • Specialty Pediatric Facility: The only nursing facility in Albany serving babies, teenagers, and young adults., • Smaller units - an average size unit is 16 residents., • Higher staffing ratios, • Atmosphere focused on learning & growing., • Playful environment, • All school aged children receive school services., • Inclusion of all residents into the community for outings and schooling, • Competitive pay rate, • Current and valid NYS RN License, • Current and valid CPR Certification, • At least 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, 5 years preferred, • 1 year of nursing management and long-term care experience required, • Must have excellent assessment skills, • Must be 18 years old, • Completes the Minimum Data Set (MDS) for all residents per state and federal regulations. Writes and/or updates resident care plans as necessary., • Participates in resident care conferences on a weekly basis., • Ensures that the medical needs of the residents are met by the attending physician. Insures that physicians' orders are signed per NYS regulations., • Makes independent decisions regarding nursing care of residents based on sound principles of nursing practice., • Ensures that documentation requirements are met by all staff working on assigned unit., • Ensures completion of both resident and employee incident reports per policy. Investigates resident incidents; implements and documents corrective action., • Continually evaluates unit systems and implements changes as necessary to enhance quality of care and the smooth operation of the unit., • Meets with family members in a pro-active manner. Addresses concerns and negotiates resolution to issues presented., • Rounds on the unit at least twice daily. Ensures environmental and infection control standards are maintained., • Effectively communicates with staff, department heads, members of the interdisciplinary team and school staff., • Appropriately delegates tasks to nurses assigned to the unit and insures completion and/or follow-through., • Monitors staff performance and adherence to facility and departmental policies and procedures., • Completes staff performance evaluations in a timely manner., • Actively participates in the Quality Improvement process through the completion of staff audits, including but not limited to; medication and tube feeding administration, range of motion and splinting, resident care, and resident care records., • Actively involved in hiring, orientation, and performance of staff., • Flexes work hours to monitor staff performance and provision of resident care on all shifts., • Actively participates in survey preparedness and the survey process., • Provides input to the RN Educator regarding the in-service needs of staff. Conducts in-service training as requested., • On-call responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
