Job Description ABOUT THE ROLE At Mansueto Ventures, home to iconic brands Inc. and Fast Company, we’re seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic leader to serve as the head of our subscription business. As General Manager, Subscriptions, in the Consumer Marketing department you will own the full lifecycle of our consumer subscription business — from marketing and customer acquisition to financial management, retention, and long-term strategy. You will be responsible for delivering sustainable growth, profitability, and innovation in one of the company’s most critical revenue streams. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation of three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in the NYC office at 7 World Trade Center. Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 + commission eligible. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Business Leadership and Strategy • Serve as the general manager of the subscription business, with full accountability for revenue growth, profitability, and long-term strategic direction., • Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap that expands our subscriber base, increases lifetime value, and drives sustainable revenue growth., • Own the subscription P&L, including forecasting, budgeting, pricing strategy, and profitability targets., • Collaborate with Editorial, Finance, Data, and Product teams to model revenue scenarios, optimize pricing tiers, and evaluate investment opportunities., • Lead the acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies across all digital platforms, driving subscriber growth well above benchmarks., • Oversee multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, app, onsite, paid media) to increase conversion and reduce acquisition costs., • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to evolve paywall strategy, registration workflows, and subscriber experiences that maximize conversion and retention., • Champion customer-centric innovation by using data and customer feedback to enhance product value and satisfaction., • Build, lead, and inspire a cross-functional distributed team of marketers, analysts, and operators to deliver on subscription goals., • Foster a culture of experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement, where data informs every decision., • Act as a visible leader across the organization, ensuring subscription priorities are embedded in newsroom, product, and revenue strategies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES/DIRECT REPORTS (if applicable) • This role may have one or more direct reports including full-time staff, consultants and independent contractors as is necessary. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • Experience: 15+ years in subscription growth, digital marketing, or recurring revenue businesses, including direct ownership of P&L., • Leadership: Proven ability to serve as a general manager or senior leader of a high-growth consumer subscription business., • Financial Acumen: Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, with a track record of delivering profitable growth., • Strategic Vision: Ability to translate market trends, audience insights, and business objectives into winning subscription strategies., • Analytical Expertise: Mastery of performance analytics, attribution modeling, and data storytelling that drives decision-making., • Technical Fluency: Comfort with analytics platforms, CRM and marketing automation systems, and emerging subscription technologies., • Communication: Excellent executive presence and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels., • Problem-Solving: A growth-minded operator who thrives in ambiguity, seizes opportunities, and delivers measurable results.
