Job DescriptionDescription: Position Summary The Energy Auditor is a key member of RECAP's Weatherization team and is responsible for conducting comprehensive energy audits of residential homes served through the New York State Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and NYSERDA Empower Programs. The Energy Auditor evaluates residential properties to identify energy efficiency, health, safety, and building performance needs; develops appropriate work scopes and material lists; and ensures recommended work is consistent with applicable program requirements and the New York State Weatherization Field Guide. The position works closely with the Production Coordinator, Director of Weatherization, Weatherization staff, contractors, and other program partners to support the successful completion of weatherization projects. The Energy Auditor is expected to maintain accurate documentation, comply with applicable program requirements, and contribute to RECAP's mission of improving energy efficiency, safety, and comfort for eligible households. Essential Functions • Conduct comprehensive field audits for the New York State Weatherization Assistance Program and NYSERDA Empower Program., • Evaluate residential buildings to identify energy efficiency opportunities, health and safety concerns, building performance issues, and necessary weatherization measures., • Collect accurate field measurements, observations, photographs, and other information required to develop project recommendations., • Enter and maintain accurate project data in TIPS and EmpCalc software., • Create and submit EmpCalc documentation for NYSERDA Empower projects., • Develop detailed work scopes for each assigned job based on audit findings and applicable program requirements., • Develop accurate materials lists for proposed weatherization work., • Ensure work scopes and recommendations are consistent with applicable program requirements and the New York State Weatherization Field Guide., • Coordinate with the Production Coordinator and Director of Weatherization regarding project scopes, scheduling, findings, changes, and required follow-up., • Conduct in-progress inspections to verify that work is being completed according to the approved work scope and applicable standards., • Conduct final inspections to verify completion and quality of weatherization measures., • Identify deficiencies, incomplete work, or required corrections and communicate findings to the appropriate personnel., • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to audits, inspections, work scopes, materials, and project completion., • Communicate professionally with homeowners, tenants, contractors, vendors, and RECAP staff while conducting audits and inspections., • Protect client and household information obtained during the audit and inspection process., • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Weatherization. Compliance Responsibilities • Comply with applicable New York State Weatherization Assistance Program requirements, NYSERDA Empower Program requirements, and the New York State Weatherization Field Guide., • Maintain required BPI certifications and other credentials applicable to assigned duties., • Participate in roundtable meetings with other Energy Auditors, the Production Coordinator, and the Director of Weatherization., • Remain current on applicable weatherization standards, building science practices, health and safety requirements, program procedures, and relevant codes., • Ensure audit findings, work scopes, materials lists, inspections, and project documentation are accurate and completed within required timeframes., • Follow all RECAP policies, procedures, safety requirements, and program directives., • Promptly communicate health, safety, structural, environmental, or other significant concerns identified during audits or inspections to the appropriate supervisor., • Maintain confidentiality of client and household information., • Follow all applicable agency requirements related to vehicle use, field safety, documentation, and client interactions. Work Environment Work is performed primarily at residential properties and may involve exposure to varying environmental and construction-related conditions. Work conditions may include exposure to inclement weather, dust, dirt, debris, insulation materials, construction materials, noise, varying temperatures, and other conditions commonly encountered during residential energy audits and weatherization activities. The position may require entering attics, crawl spaces, basements, mechanical rooms, unfinished areas, and other confined or difficult-to-access areas. The position may require exposure to electronic equipment, including computers, printers, fax and copy machines, and other office equipment. When operating an agency vehicle or driving on behalf of RECAP, duties may include driving on city streets and highways, with exposure to inclement weather and traffic. Employees are required to take all precautions and comply with all applicable laws, agency vehicle policies, and safety procedures. Disclosures Certification Requirements: The position requires BPI Building Analyst and Envelope Professional certifications, or the ability to obtain the required certifications within the timeframe established by RECAP. Training may be provided to qualified candidates as needed. Driving Requirements: This position requires travel between agency locations and residential job sites. Employees must maintain a valid New York State driver's license and comply with RECAP's Driver Safety requirements and all applicable traffic laws. Client Home and Worksite: This position requires employees to enter and perform audits and inspections inside clients' homes and residential properties. Employees are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully while protecting client property and confidential information.
